Hey everyone! As we ramp up Hyperpulse Radio, we need some help from the community to create content. The primary asset we need at the moment is battletech themed news reports. These can be voiced by anyone, but with the following restrictions:

The audio must be (mostly) clear.
It must be in English.
It must be related to the Battletech universe.

We are currently looking for:
General News - Minor events and planetary information. This is stuff that could plausibly occur during the timeline.

Major News - Events that are accurate to the Battletech timeline, such as border skirmishes, wars, political upheaval, technological breakthroughs, Solaris victories, etc. This should be 100% accurate to the timeline.

Commercials - Battletech themed commercials, such as mechwax, or the best mech repair shop on Solaris.

If you're interested, pm me with a copy of your script and what you'd like to do.

You can also email it to me at hyperpulseradio@gmail.com

We would love to see what the community can produce!
:)

Anybody know a good site that would have events lined up by thimeline? I would love to get in on this and have looked on sarna a bit but it leaves a bit to be desired as far as listing events by when they happened.

EDIT: News not having to do with the Clans, of which there is plenty on there.

All major events, might want to look as far back as 3040 to see if any battles are still being waged.

You can also do a verbal announcement of anything PGI uses for their news feed. When in doubt, definitely try for some minor news. Who knows what mech jockey was banned from Solaris, or how many mechs were purchased by Davion from Wernke-Talon? Nobody until you tell us!

:)

Oh cool you found one of the ol' Propoganda/Motivators! I lost a few of them since the forum crashes on the Battletech site.

For a great example: the advertisement video in MechWarrior IV: Black Knight for the Black Knight Legion.

"Keep YOUR hands clean, and call in the Legionnaires!"

It had a "phone number" and everything!

I suggest you get hold of the old Battletechnology magazines.. Each issue has several pages dedicated to news reports! They are specific to the year they are printed for, already typed out and accurate to the universe canon. I've always thought that if the text can be digitized, a dictating program with a professional womans voice would make it sound really nice.. Or you could get a budding journalism student to read out the reports verbatim. Then just mix in a 'News blast' musical theme and there you go!
Also, if these files are available as individual mp3's on your NGNG site, as say a sound board or something, then it'll make an awesome resourse for players who run RPG games and want to spice up a gaming session with some Inner Sphere News.
Oh and in some issues, there are also verbatim interviews with famous personalities (like Hanse, Katrina, Leo Showers etc) that would be perfect for a INS style Current Affairs show..

This'll get a lot more fun when the game actually launches, and you can do reports on how well each faction is doing, or even mention specific units taking a planet (actually, that would be amazing if the news radio got integrated into the game client and players could listen to it in the main screen once conquest reports start up. I can dream...). I should finally get a decent recording setup by the end of the month, so I'll write up a few scripts over winter break and do them for ya.

Continuing the humor theme...maybe there could be news reports relevant to the houses? Eg: "House Steiner liberators (not canon sorry) just achieved distinguished service cross for gallantly destroying a retreating House Kurita Light Mech on Solaris?"
Well hope you get the (humorous) drift anyway.

S3dition, are you going to be allowing commercials for various Merc Corps, eventually?

We could, but we want to give the community a hand in this. The more involved the community is, the more enjoyable the game will be.

The finished content will be released to to the public for free once it is finished. I agree that it is great material for campaigns or one off gaming. In fact, it would be cool to know how everyone is using the content :)

Unsure about this one. There will potentially be a lot of merc groups and I'm not sure how to allow all of them a fair shot at advertising. We'll get back to you on that one.

That kind of reporting can be very useful, especially as we move into 3050... :D

This looks really interesting. I've been working in radio for the last 7 years, it could be a fun mental exercise to produce some copy for this. I'll be whipping up some copy for you soon.

Fair enough. I'll keep Following this thread, and I'm always looking for new ones. Not sure what I would write, but I would recommend requesting copy from everyone, have the unit COs, or their proxies, record and send the messages, and then play them as you have opportunity, in rotation I would think.
