I am a WOT player and want to buy a founders package but wont spend 120 for it [60 bucks=Xbox game I can justify ;) ]

My question is will Assault`s make less Credits [What ever currency] than smaller mechs etc?

If this Mech will get a Bonus to grinding I wanna make sure I dont pick one that makes the least amount of Credits/XP etc.

Is there some sort of breakdown as to how making money ingame is calculated based off class etc?

i was leaning towards the Atlas as it was always one of my favorite Mechs but if its gonna be a slow close ranged Mech that costs 3x the Hunchback and it makes less Credits/Currency to begin with it wont be my choice. From everything I have read it will be my Mech to make me money and XP alot faster but I only get 1 option.

In WOT for instance the later Tier 10 tanks dont make crap for money and even take money to operate as a whole where the lower [Middle Wieghts] are usually the money makers. Do we know yet how Credit/Money will be calc`d?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

It'll probably balance out fairly well between the types. Instead of worrying about which one will make the most, why not focus on the one you will enjoy PLAYING the most? After all, if you enjoy playing it, you probably will get good at that sort, which means the c-bills will flow faster than playing a mech style you don't like.

I've heard that assault mechs will cost alot to maintain, so if you go with an Atlas, you may find the C-Bill boost it gives just keeps it from being a cash sink.

The Jenner is light, and as such, has low maintenance cost compared to an assault mech. It also has an enjoyable and quite deadly array of weapons to keep things fun.

sounds like this might be the best choice for you, but I'm basing this off what I've heard that light mechs will be less costly to maintain than assault mechs.

Im not (and anybody who isnt a dev wont be ) 100% sure but i would assume that over time that probably the Jenner would make the most amount of money because even after being destroyed (severly damage or the such) that it will likely cost the least to get repaired. Since it would cost ~3,198,375 C-bills to buy a jenner and to buy a Atlas ~9,626,000 C-bills. I would imagine a more expensive mech has more to brake which would mean a extra (probably small) cost over time to the total repair in C-bills.

Also the Hunchback costs ~3,467,875 C-bills not much more than the Jenner but the Hunchback also has AC/20 which im would guess that the ammo for that is more expensive than that for the SRM-4 that is found on the Jenner. Not 100% sure on that would recomend looking at the Mechlab video for the cost (at least in that phase of the beta) was for ammo and the such if it shows it.

Final Opinion Buy your favorite, most likely to not get bored with it or just give up and buy the Legendary.

A lot of us Atlas/catapult founders arn't buying the mechs to make money. We're buying the atlas/cats to offset the cost of ammo for fire support. Sorta like a tax deduction. If you want a grinder, jenner or hunchback is the way to go to make money.

IMO, I would think the best choice is whatever you think you can play the best in. Win and take the least amount of damage.

That being said I would think the Jenner/Hunch might be the least expensive to repair.

While the Cata/Atlas has a higher potential of damage/credits, but a loss in one of these would hurt more.

If you want a Grinder, I would get the hunchback. If you enjoy scouting as a way of life and credit income, get the jenner.

You like playing a scout go for a light mech. You like to be a medium tank driver go for a medium or light mech. You like heavy tanks that have speed go heavy mech. If you like slow heavy tanks just fine go either heavy mech or assault mech.

Each of the four mechs you can choose from are customizable to fit a variety of roles. The real issue is that the range of roles each can fill varies.

Jenner. Small fast. Can be a pure scout, a harrasser or light skirmisher.

Hunchback. Medium well armored for size. Can be a brawler by default. Could reconfigure to long range direct fire. This mech can easily be fitted out to hold a narrow chokepoint or play a more open field battle.

Catapult. Default is a support mech with indirect fire weapons. Could reconfigure to be a closer in brawler with SRMs, or bigger energy weapons could turn it into a long range specialist.

Atlas. Big slow weapon platform. Heavily armored. Heavy weapon loadout. Only real reconfiguring you can get good traction out of is swapping weapons. You can make this beast have a massive short range alpha strike, or put a bunch of long range stuff on it. Anything in between will also work. However you will never make this a fast nimble machine. This is the E100, maus, t95s of this game. Big fat slow moving targets albeit with amazing firepower.

So think what style you have previously played and go for a mech that fits your ideal role in this game.

You will make the most C-bills with the mech you can play the best. Simple as that.
The Devs stated that spotting, doing damage and giving/following orders are all counting to your XP, so i assume they will connect the C-bills to this stuff too. ;)

No one can really give you any useful information yet on what it costs to maintain mechs. Those in beta are sworn to secrecy and may not even know themselves, since repair and reload costs could be tweaked from one build to the next (assuming they are even in yet).

Personally, I picked the Atlas. If nothing else, it has weapons and an XL engine I can strip out of it and use in other mechs.

Your question is surely one many would love to know the answer to. Unfortunately the figures and answers you seek have yet to be released. Even once the game starts I don't know that you will get a completely difinitive answer because of multiple factors we're just not privy to at this time. And those who know can't reveal the answer without facing certain death.

I share your concern with cost vs return. I am currently using mutliple low tiered vehciles to make enough gp so I can purchase a tier VIII tank. My hope for MWO is that any mech will have the ability to earn more than enough GP so that repairs are never an issue.

Its just speculation.
No one knows any values or stats.
That would be breaching the NDA otherwise.

i think it will be like the XP's so, if you spot an enemy you get c-billx, if u destroy it you get c-bills (more because you destroy it, but you dont spot them if u have an scout) if you destroy a part of another mech and so on..
i think a big mech like atlas will make the most c-bills, but to repair it you will need the most of you c-bills... so i think all of them will make the same money, after repair/ammo buying

Founder's Catapult will grind the most creds (until it's nerfed in the first patch).

Can't prove me wrong!

I'm going with the atlas because I like have a full payload of whatever weapons I like. And I really hope that I don't hate myself for not getting a different mech. But I'm going with what I like, regardless of the financial complications in the game. I can always grind away with a normal Hunchback, catapult, or other mech that I feel like buying.

A WoT > MWO translation

Jenner = Bat Chat

Hunchback = Med tank/TD

Catapult = SPG

Atlas = Tier 10 tank
