As per a conversation with Russ on Twitter, yes Archers WILL get missile bay doors, a al the Catapult.

Those doors, if shot while open will NOT count as CT, and will have their own health of some sort, and indeed are apparently going to be destructible.

Ah yeah. Unless they really pooch the in game model somehow, don't see this thing NOT becoming a favorite for me.

Next question will be: is destructible missile doors going to be retrofitted to older mechs with doors?

Really not relevant to the conversation at hand, which was based on the Warhammer model and proposed changes to it Russ is going to look into tomorrow.

I wouldn't call it a fiasco so much as disappointing. The concept art head was freaking cool. Instead we got...Peyton Mannings forehead. But really not the time or place for that discussion, lol.

ah...got it

and I think everyone expected the archer to have missile doors...and to have them count as ST would be unfair, when open...when closed they absolutely should count as ST

Ya know...ignoring the fact it's a Missile Boat and probably not gonna fit meta to begin with.

Catapults are getting their rescale (in fact, quite likely that has started now), with any hope that's part of it, but it's really a different subject.

personally, I say tie any "Armor" quirk in the STs to the Doors, and whenever that bonus armor is depleted on the ST, they blow off.

Make the quirk a little cooler, IMO.

Wow, Russ included me? I feel a bit special. Also, you have no idea how hard I screamed like a school girl reading that about the Archer. My fiance might be questioning our relationship after that. xD

Haha, my only concern is the model. I'm actually growing on the Warhammer model though... Its not the concept exactly, but I think it deserves its own respect at this point. Still needs the arm change, but Russ said that one is at least possible if I remember correctly?

Not just the head. The entire mech while still recognizable was changed overall in proportions. The result created a mech significantly different from what the original concept visual. The head/cockpit area was simply the worst part of it. I'll go find the comparison image, got it somewhere...

Its probably the worst case we've had of translation between the concept art and model in my opinion. Overall though PGI has been doing really well with its models for the most part, only minor things for complaints. (like the Warhammer's cockpit being too high)

will unless we keep poking the bear on his day off..... still could decide to reverse it all if we keep annoying him.

I only poked him about concern on the inclusion of the Archer missile doors. Haven't said a word about the Warhammer. =D No need to when you already got through to him.

Found it... A lot of people don't seem to mind. But with the Enforcer being one of my favorite mechs and the very noticeable difference between the designs. Understandably it hit home for me, and I refer to it as a fiasco because its the most modified model in comparison to its concept as far as I know.

Its an old, dead topic now, its not going to change after all the work it went through to make it in the first place. Its just a reminder for me to take every concept with a grain of salt and never expect the model to match the concept art completely.

That's not to say PGI is bad at it, just that some will be different. In contrast the Panther was done really well at the same time as this mech, so it probably artificially inflated the perceived differences of the Enforcer at the same time.

It'd be really cool to have mesh updates on Crab, King Crab, and Stalker to use this same locallised destruction model. Hopefully, Catapult is already getting this treatment

They do.

Test it on the Training Grounds Catapult 60 armour, but 3 AC20s don't breach.

Takes 3 SLs on top of that to breach it.

60*.9=54
9*0.9=8.1

Over 60, upon which you hit Structure.


I know there was the old HUD bug which displayed the additional slots, like other games had for the TimberWolves missile box.
