Town Hall meeting specific to CW (community warfare)

1) CW to be changed to Faction play time stamp 54:19

2) Free Lance Call to arms for unaffiliated players, this contract for a specific drop (or battle)
Time stamp 55:50

3) A whole new careers and contracts look time stamp 56:39

4) More areas of contracts, you can be solo mercenary or unit mercenary, solo Loyalist or unit loyalist time stamp 57:00

5) Certain things that loyalist get and certain things mercenaries get much more different feel between those two aspects, for example loyalist are the only ones that get loyalty points. There will be a reputation system for mercenaries time stamp 57:57

6) War Planning-- it puts the decision in the players hand as to who they want to fight time stamp 59:00

7) Voting screen as part of war planning each 24hrs you will be given a vote so your faction decides who to fight (it will be based on lore and who your natural enemies might be) then the algorithm will choose a planet expect the number of contended planets to go down. time stamp 59:28

8) Scouting Mode is a 4 vs 4 player game mode it has change from unlocking where the next invasion planet would be but that proved too problematic.

9) The scouting or 4 vs 4 fight will happen on the planets that you’re currently fighting on. There will be three degrees of scouting information that will be available. The defenders will start out with this information but more precisely abilities time stamp 1:03:04

10) Information or abilities (remember defenders will know this info at start) (A) Battle field scan you will know what the other team will have (Russ mentioned types of battle Mechs) Time stamp 1:04:28

11) (B ) orbital recon (this will be up for tuning) is a scan of the battle field every so often so you would be able to tell which gate an attacker might me going too time stamp 1:04:30

12) (C) Long tom artillery it will be powerful but there will be an indicator that it is coming, the Long Tom will be automatic players won’t control it time stamp 1:04:55

13) 4 vs 4 game mode no respawn, this will be a tug of war for information and abilities, this mode will require some tuning. The matching will happen “the same way so we get to reuse the same system we have” you can bring a group of 4 or any combination of Mechs. When you get a 4 man strike team you go. Time stamp 1:05:52

14) If you’re a Loyalist unit and your unit tag is next to a planet you will be able to incentivize contract’s from your C-bill coffers (the first mention of C-bill coffers) he gives an example

Of amounts but essentially it will draw Merc there to fight because of the greater rewards. Time stamp 1:08:29

15) Both Loyalist and Mercenaries can do the next item which is the ability to use unit coffers to increase the defenses of your planet, one example is to increase the number of zones from 13 to 15, so it will be important to keep your unit tag on the planets you get or have. Time stamp 1:09:21

16) More reasons to keep or get planets (A) new leader board system top Loyalist and top merc unit where mentioned but there will be more time stamp 1:09:56

17) Possibilities: Russ is exploring the possibilities of MC rewards for unit tags on planets as further incentive to get/keep/hold planets, there will be a whole to winning and keeping planets time stamp 1:10:24

18) The phase 3 was originally going to be the main item for Phase three but Russ said this is double the original size and content of CW and it still won’t be done. Time frame for this to come out is from soon to the1st quarter at the latest. time stamp 1:11:00

Questions came next.

Side note: units lack of fighting each other some not their own fault but some is Russ calls out units time stamp 1:23:36

So basically very little to actually improve the mode itself is coming. Kind of sad because it seriously lacks in replay-ability of the actual game mode itself.

Ugh, this townhall.

I don't think NGNG is really on top of things regarding CW. Sean Lang and Bombadil havent played CW since early phase 2 afaik and they have to use smurf accounts because their mains are locked out.

I can only imagine the stuff the PGI & friends inner circles talk about in their secret meetings(or secret lines of communication) and how often -MS- is blamed for everything by non-MS.

1:46:50 Russ gets a little frustrated, but he probably didn't need to over NGNGs interjections and chatbox clutter

so there is progress but they are 100% on CW right now

It would be nice if they'd actually make CW a mode that interesting enough to play more than a few times a month. The actual game content of CW has been stale since phase 1 and hasn't had any improvement to that what so ever.

4v4 scouting affecting intel/long toms for matches that those players aren't even playing in? Seriously how does that even make sense to do?

4v4 matches ARE a great idea, but they need to be a part of the campaign that 2 teams are actually fighting in for control of a planet not a sideshow where unaffiliated people affect what could/should otherwise be competitive matches. The concept is there, and a decent one - the way they are going to implement it is going to do nothing but drive more frustration into team matches and make the CW experience worse overall.

This nonsense focus on the planets when there isn't even enough total player population to barely sustain that kind of system (if all ~25-30k actually played actively and did CW it might work), much less active/active CW population is completely holding this mode back from any sort of ability to advance in any meaningful way that could actually attract more players and promote real competition.
Sorry PGI, you wasted god knows how much time creating that planet map but as anything other than a background system it's a complete failure to the mode because you continually refuse to make the game play of the mode itself something worthwhile.
Put the stupid thing in the background, use leaderboards and reduce the amount of drop buckets so the mode is more balanced out for the widest range of players, set the limited MM system to preferentially match larger groups against other larger groups (in combinations) when possible and you'll have the base level of where CW might-might actually start to grow a player base.

If you want to hold steadfast to this e-sports thing - CW is your opportunity to create an experience that delivers Battletech/Mechwarrior campaign tension and meaningful match progression by matching up teams in actual PVP campaign missions. Use your 4v4 and standard queue maps (which are much better designed) to have teams compete and build up toward a finish in the CW base assault with accrued bonuses and setbacks. Make it so the matches can play out and tell a story that people will get hooked on with many variable that create replay value rather than just rehashing Assault/Skirmish mode on a limited selection of maps to fight over a pie chart.

If you want people to play CW, you have to give them incentives. Right now you get more c-bills for playing in the queues. Most people who play CW have done the rounds and picked up their easy to get free mech bays. Since PGI pretty much only promotes poke-mech collection everyone grinds for their mechs.

Dont get disheartened though. CW is only in beta. In a few more years CW should be awesome. Just like the normal queues we have now.
