From a lore perspective (yeah, I care about that), I don't see mechwarriors rebuilding their mechs every time they drop on a new planet.

That's why both Clan and Inner Sphere OmniMechs are such thing in BattleTech universe.

You can configure them exactly as you see fit overnight, depending if you need a short-range brawler, long-range sniper or missile fire support (or anything else).

We talked about it in at least a couple of threads, and the forum consensus was basically "No". So there you have it.

I'd be okay with it, if it was Omni-mech only, you know to reflect the Lore about them being able to have their equipment tailored to the mission requirements....

Jss if you don't believe this guy in the Locust was not using hacks so be it LOL 8 kills he must be hacking never seen a locust get more than 2 kills in a match in 3 years and he was a top comp player.

You must not be playing much...

And although it's only 6, this was done in a super-fragile 4x MPL Locust:

This isn't even all of the pictures. I have a vast arsenal of screenshots where I have 5-8 kills with the Locust, and just as many where I have max damage in the match, but fewer kills because staying alive is more important than securing the kill. And I'm neither comp nor Tier 1.

Great work! And no, I don't think there was anything fishy about it either. How would you need an aimbot when you're within SL range anyway? Just a damn fine pilot who knows everything about movement, blind angles, and positioning.

The pilot wasn't Yeonne Green, so verifiably there're at least two pilots capable of this. I took a screen shot as it was so exceptional though. Tier 2 pug game.

This isn't COD

Getting kills doesn't mean squat in this game. It's the damage that matters. Then use KMDD and 'components destroyed' to indicate effective damage.

OP he is a liar at the start of closed betas up to now players have wanted this feature it was even voted on and it was = (YES ) we want the old MechWarrior4 drop system back where you pick a map game mode then your mech of choice

But it goes deeper that your topic as in savable load-outs 20-30 per mech in the mech lab ETC. If you want to know how your idea worked in a real game just download the MechWarrior 4 Mercenaries Demo its a perfect example of what MWO should have been like all along as a game.

Woooo there tater, calling someone an outright liar who you know isn't liar just torques me the wrong way.
I've been here since closed beta and I've hardly ever heard that one even brought up.
Ever.
Beside it looks like you just got off that dropship.
Get back on and go home.

I would like to select a chassis, say warhammer, and then, after the map selection I would like to pick the variant I drop in, similar to CW. As it stands now, the wise man will always choose a long range variant every time, as the pros outweigh the cons. I for one would be more apt to pick a "brawler" type variant if I knew the map would support it. I hate playing a brawler on polar highlands like I hate playing a LRM boat on mining colony *sigh*

What are the communities thoughts? Pros / cons?

OH and p.s. Please make voting invisible until the map is selected. TY Posted Image

No, The system is already borked by the fact you can map vote...

Battlemechs are ment to generally be generalist machines, to function at all ranges effectively [with a few noted exceptions]

The current map voting system utterly destroys that, people can loadout for "long range direct fire" for instance, and then pick the maps with the best sightlines.

As a Mechwarrior, you SHOULD NOT GET TO PICK YOUR BATTLEGROUNDS... picking your mech, loading it out and all that, sure, that I get, but you don't get to just choose where exactly on a planet you fight.

And you, in your ER-LL boat, want to always stomp me in my useless brawler? That's, what you call fair game?

If your brawler is useless I'd say the issue is more likely the "your" part, and not the "brawler" part.

I would take out the map voting entirely. I hate it. In its place I would give each player a dropship of four mechs. The could then, based on the assigned map, select a mech that they thought was suited four it. That way you have some choice and don't just vote based on build.
