I came across this idea in the feature suggestions sections. It's a great idea. Have you noticed how all the cities/buildings are all in perfect condition. I can just imagine a janitor cleaning up all our destroyed mechs. We need something reminiscent of the battle of Stalingrad or Berlin but MWO.

Yeah, we need more maps with good cover for close combat engagements. But I fear the terrain hitboxes in such kinds of map.

Well with the engine upgrade coming those hitboxes should be much less annoying.

Yeah it's terrible having only all but one map (Alpine) that have nothing but cover...

Man, this thread made me remember a dream I had last night. I dreamed that PGI had implemented destructible terrain with real physics, so buildings would collapse and fall apart into different pieces and blocks. It was such a glorious dream. Maybe I play MWO too much.

But yeah, I would love an urban ruins map. And wouldn't it be awesome if the map was drenched in heavy rain? Like the scene in Saving Private Ryan, where they're fighting in a ruined french village. Imagine our mechs holding position in heavy rain, water dripping from their gun barrels, and the occasional lightning flash iluminating the battlefield and revealing the opposition.

Can you imagine if they made a game like this for MWO? Maybe give the player an SCV suit and have them sorting through and salvaging debris? Could be interesting and/or amusing.

Or we could just get destructible buildings. You know, like we've had since MW2.

In the last town hall (I believe) Russ mentioned that they're getting a newer version of the Crisis engine. As I understand it, the current version has a sort of "blanket" over objects for hitboxes which causes weapons to get caught on stuff.

You people are literally asking and dreaming of MWO to be played on War Thunder maps.

I can't say if Warthunder was part of the process but for me, I'm a bit of a history junkie & I've noticed just how clean and pretty the cities we fight in are.

Oh great. I've never looked at War Thunder before but I did now because of your post. It looks great, but now I even remember how much better WoT's maps are than MWO's.

Actually, for all the call of a straight Urban city map and PGIs still adamant "Ain't gonna happen" response to it, this would be an interested twist/compromise. Having a war-torn cityscape as the central aspect/theme of the map which would create variable cover and chances for open sight line, all while still performing its role as an Urban environment with tight space close combat and constant maneuvering possibilities is a great idea.

If they go with the rectangular city grid like on Manhattan with some streets blocked by collapced buildings (JJ will be OP)... well, strait lines somewhere, tight alleys and no way to focus fire except on the occasional squares. Not sure how lights will feel there.
