LAST PATCH 16.02.2016 - message box - FAILED CREATING DIRECT3D..... I have win 8.0, x64, ati amd 4870x2... before patch is been OK. I've executed the MWO Repair Tool... game.cfg is ....
r_Driver="DX9"
d3d9_TripleBuffering=0
r_txaa=0
r_msaa=0
r_postaa=0

Having the same issue after downloading the new patch. (Windows 10 64bit, EVGA GeForch 210 DirectX 11.1)

Solution :
C:\Users\***********\Saved Games\MechWarrior Online\game.cfg
add - r_DXVersion="DX9"
delete - r_Driver="DX9" if you have.

Sadly I don't see that file in the folder...

If you don't see the .cfg file you can make one using Notepad ( or any text editor program).

The temporary solution has been pinned by PGI employees in the patch notes discussions.
