I am proposing a special module or even a build-in feature for all assault mech in the game. This is the ability to couple with an Urbanmech. Here is how the feature would work in game:

With a special coupling button that would be only available for Urbanmeches and Assault meches the pilots could within a sertain distance from eachother couple. Both pilots should press the coupling button and have their reticle pointing at the mech they wish to couple with.

After this the Urban mech would attach itself to the back of the assault mech. For example an Atlas. There does not necessarily need to be any special animations the Urban mech could simply "teleport" if that is easier to do technicaly.

In this coupled state the Urban mech would have a very limited torso twist but could still guard the back side of the Assault mech. At any point the Assault mech or the Urban mech could press the special coupling key to detach. This way again there is no forced coupling and both pilots are doing it from their own free will.

I think this would help the heavily armed urban mech builds alot since for example the AC20 wielding Urbie can only go 30 kph and beign coupled in the back of an assault mech one could be transproted to the action faster. Posted Image

I don't think Urbanmech is really exiting as a fast XL engined mech. Even the running animation looks broken at high speeds. I know you can make a laser build that goes pretty fast but it will still be slower(at only 105kph) than other light mechs and slightly boring too.

And some builds like the AC20 you really have no crit space for an XL engine. I guess XL100 is possible but that would leave you with just 1 ton of ammo. 1.5 tons if you omit the small laser. Posted Image

Then why would you buy an urbanmech if all it has is downsides? You don't have to mount 24 PPC and 17 large lasers to do a lot of damage. If you bought it just so you can have a 360 rotation then maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't have wasted your cbills there and get something better, like a raven or a jenner or an arctic cheetah.

Dude, take my advice: You'll get flamed by those Battletech-loving cult people who worship this game's lore if Urbie-Backpacks were put in the game. It would break the game, it would troll it's existence. And the Urbanmech was made to be a troll to begin with.

And PGI loves the lore too, that's why Clanners have superior tech making CW/FP unbalanced. Though team planning/ Unit teamspeak basically gives you the edge, not what mechs/weapons you use.

So besides that point... I'm not taking you seriously.
But this does sound like a joke.
So yeah, I'll humour you... that's funny. Just think of a badly damaged atlas, lost all it's weapons... but the Urbie is still attached. A Cored Commando is so happy to get ready to streak him. Turns around. SURPRISE, AC20, BOOM, LOL.
So realistic. Mech-mounted Mech. Wait... Executioner with JJs... with an Arctic Cheetah with JJs(64meter jump height) LALALALALALOL! It's basically a Mini-con.
... Funny. But that's insane dude. Just like how tall the trees are in Viridian and in Forest Colony... compared to building-sized Mechs like the Banshee. No hard feelings, but this IS a joke. Posted Image

The word "realistic" does not fit anywhere in a Battletech game. Posted Image

Though I understand your point. It is not lore based so it is a doomed idea I guess. I won't pursue it any further.

The Urbie backpack needs to sit up higher so it can look around and give the Atlas orders while shouting "WHO RULES BARTERTOWN?".

No problem dude. But there's still hope. PGI does some... odd things on April Fool's Day. And people always play on April Fool's day just for things like this.
