Aiming for legs

From what I understand, it is possible to take out an opponent by crippling his legs. This is called "legging" and is considered dishonorable. Reasonable.
So if "the end justifies the means", what is your opinion and how to deal with it, if it happens ingame?

IMO shooting legs is not different than taking off an arm that carries a particularly dangerous weapon.

I think a lot of player don't want legging to be considered honerable because they want to remove the bulk of the armor saving tons so that they can add armor to their torso or carry more ammo, so if the DEVs want legging not to happen they need to remove the hit box so it can't happen if they don't then if your in battle with me expect the armor of your mechs legs to be tested, if you have removed some of it to save weight you will be legged, to me it is the same as say getting behind and enemy tank and firing into his weak backside in tank games and so on.
If it is a viable target expect it to be at least tested, I will leg you!

I could understand that... if it was correct

I just did a quick search and on many mechs i found the difference between center torso and leg armor is minimal at best. The Awesome 8Q even has more armor on his legs than in his center torso!
On topic: Legs are a part of the mech that qualifies them as a valid target. End of story

If you fight like a Plitak- and with dishonor, you leg.
We play this for fun and with honor.
If you leg, you are dishonorable.
end of story...

Can you explain why it is a problem to kill your enemy as fast as possible? I'm pretty sure you try the same right?
Edit: Destroyed legs don't kill a mech in MWO faster than coring it.

It's the internet...you're going to hear whining about cheap tactics no matter what happens. I will admit that I'm eagerly awaiting the hilarious responses of the roleplayers from the Clan forums when this game hits open beta, since 99% of the people playing are just gonna be there to shoot people in big robots. This is a modern online game, and if something is a viable strategy it WILL be used and exploited to its fullest.

Many mechs have more leg armor than CT armor.
You go, WAT? WAT IS DIS HERSEY?
Yes, they do. But still, I'm legging because it'll keep those bloody Jenners and Hunchies off my Atlas.

Stop talking about "honor" as if it exists!
