For people with merely decent skill, they could master a mech in slightly more than 10 matches during the bring the heat event with premium time enabled (1 day can be won from the event either way)
I'm regretting I didn't bust out my nova to start levelling it, but I did master a few lights that were sitting unmastered for months.

Rather than endlessly equalizing (futilely) Clan to IS, we should simply matchmaker by putting 'Mechs into tiers.
That way, the terribad chassis don't need to be quirked, they'll merely end up in a lower tier. Since PSR doesn't actually function other than shoving people into a common pool in MWO, why not just let Clanners be good and stick them in the higher tiers.
Balance isn't to bad for all chassis and variants at this point. I play, Orion, Commando, Raven, King Crab, Stalker, Urbanmech, Marauder, Wolverine, Thunderbolt. They all do well for the mst part although almost all of those is a challenging mech to pilot. Fully outfitted and mastered and with practice they all can have good scores in a good match with a good team.
I am mostly playing lights since the light queue is the least played.

Experience. It's the greatest educator of all. Since your asked.
As for the topic, the rescale was a good first step, but will only be meaningful at helping things IF they get more proactive and iterative on balance efforts.
But they could learn a lot about combat mechanics from WoT and WoWs

Fair enough, I was expecting a trololol answer;
Well played Bishop, well played.

But World of Warships? I'm totally digging this game, just finished my 50th match, having a blast (finally got my first loss on battle 48, too!)
Glad you are liking the game. Overall I personally consider a very good thing to have started playing it. As already said, It started with "just giving a try" and today I have more than 2000 battles even with ships I wouldn't ever thought to play in any way.

Just to know, maybe I didn't understand well. But are you playing random battles or coop battles? because 184 xp looks like to me too little reward for an impressive performance like that. Coop battles rewards (xp, credits) are a LOT gimped.
For comparison, 42k is the average dmg that mister Average Joe makes in a battle with a tier VII battleship ( https://eu.warships....527472/Colorado ). Doing that with the St.Louis is a really good feat.
Generally if you enjoy a good win in random battles you can get around 1000 (base) xp, with 1500 being the "really good game" and 2000 the borderline for excellent performance (aka: well done carrying the team).

German battleships coming, with the Bismarck, the Scharnhorst, the Gneisenau. Now the Tirpitz won't be lonely.
The coming of the first French battleship, the Dunkerque.
The Prinz Eugen cruiser appears to be coming too.
