Not only have I seen an unusual amount of disconnects lately, I have had several weird, sudden disconnects over the past week or so. I have good internet that I pay a premium for, a powerful computer, and have run the repair tool twice just in case. I'm not getting any warning lag, just a sudden drop back to the login screen. Weirder still, I can hear people talking in VOIP in the mech lab when I log back in and attempt to reconnect, which had never happened before. I have checked all my equipment, re-started everything from the modem to the PC and fiddled with everything that could possibly be causing it on my end to no avail. I'm starting to think a recent patch or hot-fix might have screwed something up. Is it just me, or are other people noticing this?

Rampant Disconnects?

I was a little surprised to see the game still crash on my new system, it used to completely lock up or force a full restart on my old phenom win7 x64. That took a while to reboot so rejoining was a total waste of effort.
But of the few matches I've played since coming back this week it's managed to fatally crash my i7 win10 system, fortunately a restart on this one with its ssd is realy quick. I was able to rejoin before been farmed.

Have been having a lot lately as well. Also have really good Internet and a very powerful rig, and I have also been able to hear VOIP while I log back in. That's a new one for me.

I get server connection error or "unknown failure" very often when I try to start the game or when I'm coming to the hangar after a game. But apparently it was the fault of my ISP according to PGI...

If you have video capture software I have discovered some of the recent patches have made it so that it crashes your video drivers. You have to kill each and every process before you launch the game or it makes it unstable. Minimal viable product ftw.

The crashes are most likely due to packet loss and client instability in the face of said packet loss.
If not that, it's likely general client instability (conflict with this, conflict with that and don't forget conflict with the other thing).
Also, the voices you hear when DCed and RCing are because the VOIP most likely uses a different server than the game itself. That is, your connection to the game server failed, but you're still connected to the VOIP server.
Anecdotally, this supports that the client is unstable in the face of packet loss, since one connection is failing, but another is still working.
