They would have to upgrade the core crytek engine. We are on Cryengine 3 right now it world be two engine jump to get to a dx12 supported engine.

Vulkan API I think is for CryEngine 5, we are on a heavily Modded version of CryEngine 3

dx11 implementation is crashy as hell. i switched to dx9 and the game is many times more stable. i dont think pushing to dx12 is going to fix anything. its just going to be an even more hastily implemented nest of bugs. might as well just upgrade the game engine at that point. would you like to buy a mechpack?

im far more excited about vulkan. dx12 is not even of slightest interest to me, especially with the direction windows 10 is headed. im probibly going to bail ship on that platform eventually. my linux-fu is always getting better, as are the distros. or maybe reactos will be usable when it hits beta. or maybe i will move to the woods and eat squirrels for a living.

As far as I can tell, DirectX 12 is just DirectX 11, only with performance improvements. They don't claim that directX 12 offers any quality improvements. From what I have read, AMD users are in for a real treat when it comes to DirectX 12, they will most likely be able to run it on their oldish cards. It will be especially effective with with multi-core processors. Something about threading efficiency...

I am completely oblivious to any discussions regarding directX 12 btw, sry if I brought up an old topic.

I know
That's why it's on the roadmap from CryTek
