Hi,
So we all know Kills as a defining metric does not work because of KS, hence KMDD. But that has it's own problems as many people just spray damage over the whole target, being totally ineffective.
I propose a new, easy to implement metric that partially remedies this: Most Damage to Fatal Section (MDFS if you like four-letter acronyms).
So, for MDFS, only damage dealt to the section that actually is responsible for the eventual destruction of a mech is counted.
For example, if legs are blown off, only damage to the remaining leg counts. If an IS mech dies because of ST removal, only damage applied here count. Same for other parts.
Should be trivial to implement and IMHO been given a test run at least. It could replace both Killing Blow as well as Kill Most Damage Dealt, if it can prove itself a viable metric.

I feel this needs a little B*U*M*P for being in need with the event again.
Reason: KMDD makes even semi-respected people with well-known unit tags act like complete morons, charging into the enemy hoping to wreak enough havoc for that single necessary KMDD. Cycle through four weight classes and you get maximum amount of "eventness completion" per time spent.

So what you're saying is, if I leg, disarm and take out a Dire~Whales side torso I shouldn't get any credit because a spider shot him in the back while I was drawing his attention and face tanking.

I would prefer them to track MFKS. Every time you yell, "Mother F**king Kill Stealers!" you get a point.
baaaaaaat, seriously. There's a lot of metrics involved with deciding who was most valuable in a particular kill, and you can't track stuff like distractions, smart maneuvering, and communication. I don't have any problem with them adding your metric, or even hiding Ks to Ds... But none of that is going to be a truly valid in a game of this sort. And, in the end... all metrics like this sort encourage single player thinking and tactics.

Nope, that's not what I'm saying. But thank you for trying.
