Both of these Quad Mechs belong to Clans forces that were not seen until after the Clan Invasion.

The Goliath is not rare.

The Goliath is used as a general assault 'Mech and until recently was not usually seen in large numbers because of the bias against quad 'Mechs prior to the 3060s.

A: At this point - no. The reason being that we would need to make entirely new (and widely considered the most difficult) animations for them. They have not ruled out the additions of QUADS. Just put it off for a couple of years. :)

i said yes to quad mechs for my own selfs reason,but if you arm them right they will change the game :)

I would like to see a host of different designs even if only one type of each.
Quads for thier weight limits, slower, but also possibly more heavily armed/armored
Tank like i.e tracked instead of footed
and smaller scout type that are recon type hover mech/tank.

I would like to see a tri leg/tread design, but as I am kind of unfamiliar with battletech/MW I do not know of what is capable or not.

Be also cool to see a different variant of crrent PPC as in this one shoots a beam, I forget the name of the one in MW2, but it shot an energized ball of some sort, its been years, but it would be cool to see both, charged bullet type, and charged beam type(this they already have)

Anyways quads darn right as long as they are that, tougher, less fast, brutes or light armored high manouver advanced force quad, something like that

I would certainly like to see them, but not in the first year or two. I have a feeling making them fit into the engine and balancing them is something best left to the time period after the current planned mechs are all in and balanced as well as many more maps, game modes and the Clans. Once the big stuff settles, there should be some resources to tackle the task. It would be a terrible mistake to forgo those other elements to bring quads in any earlier as the implementation would suffer and that would be a double whammy to the games longevity. Sounds like the Devs know all this which makes me happy.

They look interesting and if they don't imbalance the game, well then go for it.
Other than a hull down position, lower profile, maybe more effective armor (less armor underneath is more armor up top?) and maybe a more stable platform what else does it have?
How well do they turn? How are the firing arcs affected without arms? Does lower profile help vs radar (I wouldn't think so)?

Some of those look like they are just asking for DFA! I read that they are more stable but also give a larger target from above.

You can put them in if you want. I wouldn't pilot one though, to narrow in usefulness. It would add to the value of the game play strategy though.

Yes, if it's in Battletech and not some ridiculous Mech created during the WizKids era, I'm all for it.

Edit: But it's unlikely that I'd ever purchase one. Unless I'm feeling all Star Wars AT-AT pilot. Of course those tended to be a little larger then any Mech. :)

Makes me wonder how long it will be before some quad pilot cries because he cannot fight off the commando standing under him shooting him in the belly like a little jedi under an AT-AT.

I could see me buying a sneaky quad if there is one/some just to use my Steve Erwin voice.
'Look at this Tardstrong stalking it's prey.  Creeping along and it sees a huge mech!  Now watch...you see his antannae wiggling?  That's how he signals his friends.  CRICKEY!  Did you see all those missiles and feel the heat from the layzers?  Oh!  Oh!  The Tardstrong is up and closing in the prey to finish him off.  I'm gonna go poke him widda stick!'Search youtube 'Gabriel Iglesias - Crocodile Hunter' for some good laughs.

Quad mechs seemed to fit in with the game play of chromehounds and provided the strategy of long range bombardment with a lack of mobility but high firepower. It should work just as well (if not better) in MWO if the maps are large enough.

Never fell in love with the quad, of any stripe.

The loss of twelve critical slots really hurts the heavy and assault end of the design scale. The sidestep/strafe option was a nice redeeming feature in the lights, where the loss of the critical slots wasn't as ... well... critical.

About the only feature I could think of for an assault quad would be if you could dump heat from 4 double heatsinks into a lake/river. But IIRC you can't dump that much extra heat. Though using the resultant cloud of steam as concealment would have been funny.

I don't expect quads to reach much more than "gimmick" status, if they are put in. But I'll keep an eye out to see if they wind up with enough differences from standard mechs to warrant learning to pilot one.

What is this fascination with the game in 3025? I mean having the game set in 3049/3050 means that you have more choice of weapons, mechs, technology as well as an exciting period with the clans about to invade before the Fedcom civil war. You still have all the stuff available from 3025 so if you wanted to use the old tech and loadouts you could.

Sure, the readout says that unseen units (like the Warhammer) are in there but if PGI put them on a 3025 server they would be in just as much copyright litigation as they would be if it was in the main game. Either they have sorted the legal disputes and put the units into the game or they have not and setting events back 25 years on the calender would not help this.

Please understand where I am coming from with this, I am not getting at you or your post specifically, I see a lot of posts saying how much certain people think the date should be set back and how they hate clan tech. As someone who came in through the computer games (Mechwarrior 2 and on) rather than the board game (I have never even seen the board game set out!) I find it really hard to understand.
