In the meantime, I'm adding a new rule: If I get any three of these maps in a day, I'm done with MWO for that day, week, or even month. That's in addition to my current and still active "3 Skirmish" rule.
Have a good weekend. I know I'm about to enjoy mine sans MWO.

PGI should throw in the old maps with a rare chance just to switch things up. It would be interesting to see the reactions of newer players that have never played the map before.

For sure though that the vote for the gamemode is not going back to the "select what I want" due to population issues, in conjunction with poor popularity distribution of certain modes.

It would really help PGI's reasoning if they would actually add in a few more game modes to justify their decision.

System works 100% fair now. Maps/modes are brought proportionally to number of players, wanting to play them. The fact, that big open maps, snipe fest Domination mode and CapWarrior Online Assault/Conquest modes aren't being brought so often - means, that majority of players don't like this Metas. You should deal with it or go playing private matches.
We shouldn't fix symptom, instead of fixing root of the problem itself. You should know, that forcing players to do something, they don't want to do - doesn't actually work. Cuz problem doesn't usually boils down to X or Y dichotomy. There is always 3rd option - to quit this game. Maps/modes aren't being voted for, cuz they're broken. Ask PGI to fix them. Better maps will be - more players will vote for them - more often they will be brought. If PGI intentionally want to have half of maps in their game being so Meta biased, then, I guess, giving players an ability to choose, what maps and modes they want to play or don't want to play on - is intentional feature too. I guess, PGI would never dare to change maps, like Frozen City, Forest Colony and River City, if map rotation would be RNG.
Actually there is an easy fix of this problem, that doesn't require any effort from PGI - to return old map variants into rotation, that were much better, than new ones.

Ask yourself a question. If there are so many players, wanting other maps, than this threes best ones, why don't they win voting then? Actually ingame voting - is best way to ask players, what they want. Cuz only vocal minority usually posts something on forums. Listening to their "echo-chambering" - is big mistake.
This mistake cost Blizzard half of their playerbase back in Cata for example (cuz they listened to players, who were asking to make game harder) and they have never recovered from this loss later. And they keep suffering from this problem, cuz they still listen to vocal minority of players, who ask "to bring Vanilla/TBC back". This is old players, who can't even realize, that the fact, that they don't want to play toy cars anymore, isn't caused by modern toy cars being worse, than old one, but by the fact, that they've grown up and playing toy cars isn't interesting for them any more. But... When you ask for something loud enough and for long enough time - eventually weak-minded game developer will listen to you.

But what am i thinking. PGI will probably lower the mappool by making maps worse. Frozen City was one of the most voted maps, now it often sits at 0%. So maybe you should just hope for PGI to rework Canyon HPG and Mining. They will find a way to make them bad enough people will vote for something else.

Sigh. I wish when they updated maps... they didn't go all PGI on it and make such massive modifications all at once and screw it all up. Instead, small and frequent. I miss my old Frozen City and all the brawls.

And it's no coincidence that those are tiny maps either. The MWO population is increasingly accustomed to matches where the fighting starts within 30 seconds. Drop them on a big map and their ADD kicks in before a minute has passed. And in some cases, I don't blame them, because the big maps (like Forest Colony) are so imbalanced that the fighting takes place on the same location every time. So walking 2 minutes to get in position on Forest Colony is pointless. We know where the fighting will be. We might as well drop 30 seconds away from the same old grid we're headed towards anyway.
<sigh>
It didn't have to be like this.
