If you're reading this, you are probably interested in playing MechWarriors Online (MWO), and may even perhaps be interested in joining a player-run mercenary corporation. While not much information has been publicly released concerning merecenary corporations and their role in MWO, we do know that groups of players will be competing against one another for control over territory within the BattleTech universe. The general assumption is such territory will be extremely advantageous to possess and will greatly shape MWO's persistent universe.
While there already exist some established mercenary corporations to play with, I felt that the release of MWO will introduce many new gamers to the BattleTech universe, and many of these individuals may not wish to join groups with established histories and hierarchies. No one wants to play a new game just to become a grunt in someone else's army.
I'm starting this corporation for that very reason. The real spirit I want to push is a casual, yet competitive group of players who share a common goal - to kick *** in MWO. Requirements to join and maintain membership will be nearly non-existant, as I don't want people to feel pressured to play or have to really work hard just to enjoy a video game. However, players within the Carrion Crows community should work together to achieve their own MWO goals, and we will field competitive squads against our adversaries.
I really see this mercenary corporation becoming a corporation of mercenaries; no obligations, no bs, just a group of individuals that come together to kick ***. For this reason, I also believe leadership and direction provided to the corporation should be communal; I would strongly advocate for all community members to never shy from sharing their opinions and own perspectives on anything this corporation does in the future. Of course, in the end a decision must be made by someone, which I believe can be handled through meritocracy; those who contribute the most to this corporation should obviously have the greatest influence in its directon.
That's really the groundwork I would like to see this corp. built upon. Any other ideas, suggestions, and thoughts would be very well received. Additionally, as interest grows, the community would definitely expand to include dedicated voice servers and other infrastructure necessary to support a gaming community.
Best,
