Apologies if this has been posted before, but I've just found it at least. A Japanese company called Suidobashi Heavy Industry have designed and built a prototype wheeled 'mech thing which is fully pilotable.
It's a all a bit 'sort-of', but hell, it looks like a lot of fun!
There are videos of the 'Kuratas' in action on their website.

Want a 'mech (sort of)? 1.8 million dollars says you can have one!

Yeah... We're definitely going to get taken over by Japan one of these days... That is, if they start making more of those things and less time making hentai and vending machine panties...

i don't see wy millitary don't use it ?! costs alot? i dunno cus u need:
less humans, less weapons/bullets, less food
(u could use it instead of tanks)
U could make it completely bulletproof + u could make it has 2 'legs' or 2 tracks like tanks
advantadge over tanks = u can look around easy, u auto target eazy, u have 1 person to control machiengun/rockets
imagine only 5 of them .. could overtake an army in few hours..
It might be bulletproof, what about the RPG's u ask yourselves? --> use some sort of auto lock and 2little screeens --> when something moves at 30+ km/hour and it's small you got auto target and 1push to confirm so .. i rly don't see wy they dont purchase those things:D
Hell u could even use them as transporters for wounded....

It's a bit too fragile for military use at the minute but hey, give it four hundred years and some developments and we'll be in line with the Battletech timeline at this rate.
It's not got an advantage over tanks either, the profile's too high. The first use for mechs in combat will probably be as ammunition loaders for heavy artillery or for moving heavy things around.
Perhaps the best thing about it though is that it's a millionaire's toy. Win the lottery jackpot and you and a few friends could buy four and using the BB gatlings and the bottle rocket launcher could rent a forest or something and play Mechwarrior in the real world!

It has to be a joke, the "how to ride kuratas" video is a bit disturbing...Smile shoot? And when she's on the phone? Do not jump out? The risk of injuries do exist? Robocop anyone?

Although the control system for the arms looks interesting, I'd rather get something that can walk...
Now, if you would combine the two concepts...
