The periphery states and minor powers such as the Magistracy of Canopus or the Taurian Concordant have a role to play in the history of the inner sphere, all-be-it usually as pawns in the political macinations of the Succession States, but some play a central role in events such as the clan invasion. The Free Rasalhague Republic comes to mind. My political affinity has always tended towards the Free worlds league which; in my opinion, despite its autocratic political structure retains atleast some elements of democracy and individual rights. What I would really like to see is the periphery states becomming playable. The Magistracy of Canopus has always been a personal favorite of mine for its benevolent semi autocratic matriarcy, strong democratic elements and adherence to individual and human rights. I had often hoped that political reform/revolution might reshape the Capellan Confederation (Perhaps centering around lady Candace Liao who was harbored in the Magistracy?) and lead to its rebirth as a free nation and that that rebirth might lead to economic and social relations which would help revitalization not only the Capellan Confederatin but my beloved Magistracy aswell. My own revisionist ambitions aside am I the only one who would like to see the periphery states and minor powers become playable, if not at launch then at some point in the not so distant future? Well, I'd like to see Magistracy too, but have some doubts. It's hard to imagine that periphery states will be able to fight versus Great Houses for planets, what was announced as part of global warfare - at least not so many of it have connection with more than one Great House. Also, Some of periphery states will be effectivly wiped out with Clan Invasion, while others - not affected at all. At third - I doubt that dividing players more than 6 factions will leave each of those with enough number of members.

I was thinking about the periphery as well and had an idea.
The periphery states and minor powers could have groups of planets that only the they can compete for. Then planets they can compete with the inner sphere for.
Edit: This actually fits into a bigger scheme that i am currently working out to propose. Here is the basic idea.
Periphery would generally havve their own set of planets to fight for. Lower grade tech etc to fit canon. Maybe work a group of planets that the inner sphere and periphery could fight for as well giving the periphery some perks to balance game play. I sort of evision these factions to be for the less serious players but still compettive for the folks that are.
The clans could have a same sort of deal going on. Clans would have planets for competition among other clans. In these fights you would have full clan tech. point verse point with elementals etc.
For innersphere/clan here would be a set of planets strictly for them to fight over. These matches would need to be balanced to compensate for the lower tech of the innersphere. Maybe have pilot perks to innersphere. A 5v8 set up. A point agaisnt two lances. Less tech options for clan units.
It's a tought and I think some dialouge behind it would be great. When I get to a comp I'll make a thread for this.. darn phone is not the way to go.
