In the spirit of testing boundaries, dear people who sign their posts, why do you do it? Especially people who use their sig for a picture or some stupid battletech quote or something, and then still sign every post. Some of them are ridiculously elaborate too, like this one guy who signs his name "Khan Desu Kawaii" or whatever. Are you actually a Khan? Are you roleplaying? Are forums in the far future incapable of supporting sigs? Is there some sense of accomplishment or self-importance you get from typing out your "signature" every time you post? Please let me know.

Yeah! Also, what about people who write their name all in lower case... seriously? Do they not understand simple rules of grammar? The first letter in any name is ALWAYS capitalized. This deeply offends me in a way I can't possibly express in written word.

The even worse thing is when somebody goes along and makes a personalized photoshop signature image that displays their unit insignia or house or whatever. It's like, "don't you have anything better to do than chop together a bunch of images from sarna and filter them together?" Seriously, I think people who do that might be getting a LITTLE too much into the game. But also, the OP has a point. This isn't a letter you're writing, it's just a post on a forum.

Love,

Greyrook (see personally photoshopped signature below for details).

On a serious note. I have spent many years as a part of a gaming community that was actually large enough to support a legit military structure based on the canonical BattleTech history. I have had several ranks and responsibilities and have progressed up and down those ranks based on merit. It is exactly like being in the army, except all the soldiers are huge dorks who roleplay their favorite game. So yeah, it's a point of pride and also kinda fun.

25th is recruiting send me a pm if you're interested :D

It's TOO LATE, I'm already roleplaying my way up there in order in order to MAKE FUN OF EVERYBODY FOR BEING THERE. It's going to be a very meta evening.

Dear mister/madam/miss OP,

please be assured that your concerns about multiple signatures are taken very seriously.
Unfortunably, the internet is a series of tubes, which makes it impossible to scroll ahead
without reading the signatures below each users posts. We are sure such scrolling
funcionality will be made available in the near future, once the internet has been
transformed into a cloud of things. Though, until then, we all have to endure the
misuse of the internet for communications in a style analogous to the thing most
normal people refer to as real life, whatever that means in their reality...

Sincerely yours,

Exilyth

So we enjoy personalizing our posts. We enjoy the game differently than you do. Is that a crime? Has it hurt you in some way?

Yes.

1) It's not a game it's a forum.
2) You hurt my sensibilities.

Perhaps you misunderstand. Modern internet forums offer a little space for you to use as a Signature. This space is in fact called, a Signature. I see you have utilized one to put some cool banner with your name and whatever. That's cool. That's your Signature. So why do you also have to sign your name? Especially considering your name is written write there at the header of your post. It's annoying. Stop it.

I feel hurt... but no, internet forums are not a game. They are serious. Though it is a question I've wondered. If 105% of the forums out there let you automate this why bother typing it in the part of the post that will get quoted? I think from now on when I quote people I'm going to delete the rest of the post that isn't their name and see if it looks odd. :)

I get the mild annoyance at redundant info. I don't care, but I get how someone else could.

But annoyance at people making sig banners is mildly self-referential.
Making a big deal about how annoying you find it when other people on an internet forum make a big deal about the topic of the forum? If it's not a lame attempt at being ironic, it's just kind of amusing to see. It's like a rant about ranting.

In case it's not obvious, I'm focusing on the humour here, not really trying to deride anyone.

I'm more annoyed at the fact zverofaust is still around on the forums over the people signing their posts.

I agree, people who do this sort of thing should have both arms ripped off their mechs prior to combat.
