Well that's easy. You're looking at a Radeon HD 6870 right there. It'll set you back about $170.
First, though, it would help to know what power supply you're using. I don't want to be giving you a recommendation that's going to fry your machine and set your house on fire because you're using the Sparkle 650W $18 special

Your case is a little tougher.
You have a fairly old CPU, and that's going to hurt you, especially for MWO.
If I were you, I'd try to pick up a Radeon HD 6770 or something along those lines. If you were willing to find an old AM2+ Phenom II X4 940 used, then that would open up more options, and net you a considerable performance boost in many games by itself anyways, however, then you run into the problem that that power supply won't support much more than a 6770, so you'd also have to possibly upgrade that (maybe a Corsair CX430 if you're on a budget? http://www.newegg.co...Corsair%20CX430)
It would help to know how much you're really willing to get into upgrades.

Now that assumes you do not need a monitor and we're purely talking hardware.
Came to about 1900 and a bit. Its pretty OTT and you could save money in places, but you said a budget of 2k so i went close to that.
You'll also get plenty of OC out of that build too.

I have around $2000 saved up for this.....I've been meaning to do this for a while now.
Oh good deal. You could build a whole PC for less than that.
I'd just ditch the AM2+ hardware then.
Here's what I'd do:
Case: Take your pick of any good mid tower; the Antec Nine Hundred Two and HAF932 are both good choices. I'll figure $150
PSU: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817151095
CPU: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819115095 (you could step that down to a 2500k as well for no loss in gaming performance)
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813186220
RAM: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820231314
GPU: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814102961
Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822136772
SSD: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820226237
Optical Drive: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16827136240 (if you want a bluray drive, here's one that works very well: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16827151222)
Monitor: I'll figure a $200 budget for something in the 24 inch range
EDIT: You could just keep your 22' monitor too
Price with shiping: $1964
You can spend more on some parts, like the power supply, but there's fast a point of diminishing returns. You don't need an 80+ Gold/Bronze with absurdly tight control on ripple, not unless you plan on doing absolutely insane overclocking.
Even the i7 2700k is overkill. I'd just get the 2500k and save the money for games.

Pretty much.
Vulpes Build is just as good, although i was not a fan of his motherboard choice

Well, technically I could. But it would simply take too much time. And the others presented already nice setups.

Who's?

That's my only problem with the House/Merc avatars; we confuse people with each other. Faction info should be in the bottom signature area, not the avatar.
The motherboard should be fine. I'd rather a P67 than Z68 because the integrated video is useless, but if the Z68's the same price or cheaper, then it makes no difference. It doesn't support Crossfire, but two 7970s would cut too much into a $2000 budget, imo (and Crossfire/SLI are very problemed technologies).

Tbh it was not so much the avatar, its that my brain was shocked it was not an AMD build....i should have twigged it was an impostor!
The EVGA board gets good reviews, however the board i see in all the Online/Mag builds for intel is this one

Asus RoG boards are really great (I have a Crosshair III myself), but it always comes down to what features one will use. I like the RoG boards because they come with the best integrated sound, hands down (not that it matters with a Corsair Vengeance 1500).
Oh, yes, I almost forgot! OP, do you have decent audio hardware already?
EDIT: I linked the wrong board, also. I actually don't know that I would buy that board

Foxxcon boards I've had problems with (just like Biostar boards). Asrock, on the other hand, is a great maker.
