Whats the mech in the background? The one across the way when you first view from inside the atlas?

Swayback, a Hunchback -4P that replaces the AC20 with 6 medium lasers.

Regarding MWO's scale:

Based off your overlay (which is quite handy esp. since its the first time I could see the Med. Lasers are the same size on each rendering -- litlle for Atlas, big for Commando) the cockpits are incredibly roomy and large, or incredibly small inside some enormous heads.

The trailer seems to go with the latter.

I thought It was the 4SP. Or that's what I remember from the other thread. You can see the srm 6 tubes in the torsos.

Makes sense. That's how I spend the time waiting for new developements on MWO.

Wow yeah scale has been upped. I always thought the Atlas to be shorter and stockier while things like the Charger or Banshee were taller. Keep in mind when using the people for reference height that 2 meters is pretty tall. Like genetically engineered elemental tall. It's around 6'6 for a terrible US measurements equivalent.

Only three-legged 'Mech I know of is the Ares, but that's Dark Age I believe. Off the top of my head it's something like 120 or 140 tons.

For four-legged, you have a lot more possibilities, the Scorpion and Goliath being the most recognizable.

Well, it depends somewhat on what tabletop - there's the normal Battletech, and then there's the defunct plastic MechWarrior:Dark Age Clix tabletop. This here page has a listing of the universe-canon quad mechs. (http://www.sarna.net...uad_BattleMechs)(Wonderful site if you ever need to know about a specifice mech/vehicle/whatever.)
Dark Age featured the Jaguar, Stalking Spider, Thunder Fox, Ursa, and Xanthos, with the Jaguar and Ursa being exclusive to that canon at this point.
Due to being quadrupedal, quads would probably at most come to the hip of similarly-weighted mechs. Some, such as the Stalking Spider and Tarantula, would probably be lower due to the nature of their joints, while the Bailus, with its massive backpack-cannons may be considerably closer in height to others in its class. On average, you can juge them to be on the short side though, which can be helpful when trying to take cover.

However, if you are looking for a three-legged mech, there can only be one.

135ton "colossal-class" Ares. For reference, the other mech in the video is the Dark Age version of the Atlas, and though it's a little stockier and blockier, the Ares really is a little out of scale to it. Due to its relatively lower-profile disk-shaped torso, it should probabaly be at best a head taller - though it may even need to be shorter due to the fact that the extra leg has to be considered in the weight distribution. Even on the table, it towers over everything, but the MechWarrior:Dark Age crew really had a poor handle on scale for much of its production time.

The atlas has the same size of a well rounded Zaku-II

normally is 17,5 or 18 meters tall

That's about right from my perspective. I go by what the Mechcommander Manual has to say, [since it's the only BT source, other than novels, I own], and it has the Atlas at 17m. So I'm happy with that scale.

I have always had a problem with the size to weight ratio in BT. But this is just taking it to an extreem. Real world example, M1A1 Abrams is 60t(+/-) and a little under 8m at it's longest.(not counting Main gun). 12-14m I could beleve(just barely) but 18m not even remotely. Oh well, Just like the larger the cannon the shorter the range isue I'll just add it to my list of weardness that is BT physics, and enjoy the game for what it is.

A vary good looking Battletech game. That I can't wait to play.

Im ready to do a facepalm here.

Don't make assaults ridiculously large compared to the other classes. Thats what the MW4 devs did, and all it did was sideline assaults to a large degree when tonnage mattered.

Considering my comparisons are at best comparisons, and educated guesses as much as scaling...

Seems the guys at PGI got it about perfect.

If the Atlas is 17.5m, then that means the commando is about 11-12m.

As long as scale is maintained, I don't care what height is used for the atlas. Like ive been saying, DONT make assaults disproportionally larger than the other classes. All it does is sideline assaults when tonnage matters, since it makes them easier to kill. I saw this happen all the time in NBT matches, and taking assaults was a liability most of the time. I know a lot of people trumpet this as a way to balance the classes, but I suggest not going this route.
