Dear Devs and gentlemen, I have come up with an idea about the gameplay, that you might find interesting. Although I am pretty sure someone else must have already thought it up first, still I will take my chances with it. So here it goes: Since this game is all personal survival, survival of the best...why not bond the team some more by adding this: Every player must be able to self-destoy his mech. This should be used only when a player sees his end coming and must be wise and good enough to push the self - destruct button when he is most surrounded by enemy mech, so he will inflict to them as much destruction as possible with his heroic self sacrificing act. The point system of the game should award such behaviour and improper use of a self-destruct button could be guaranteed by notifying all players, that this action would be beneficial to the player only when he is trully facing his end. In any other case this would be considered as mere death of a Mech pilot who simply failed to carry out his objectives. Now how about that? I know it will request lots of extra programming....but you are the wizzards!Ain't it?:(

Cheers!

Great idea! Maybe you would then need lots of repair costs, but this overall would be a fantastic addiition to the gameplay. I hope it will be implemented.

Best Regards
Markos

Excellent idea... can see the griefers and c-bill farmers now entering a match and exploding/self destructing to damage their own team then collect c-bills for the match at the end...

"OMG *snicker* sorry, hit the wrong button..." yeah right... no thank you...

Of course he'll earn no c-bill to damage his team-mates!

And still griefs his entire team... again, no thank you to "heroic-suicide" griefers...

Please use the search function and try stackpoling. No Area-of-Effect self destruction for MWO please. It will be abused!

In the Battletech lore there is a saying:
Life is cheap but Battlemechs aren't!

Mechwarriors are trained to salvage as much of their mech as possible. Suiciding your mech, maybe even destroying valuable salvage, will in most successor states get you court martialed.

Sure, I can see this. HOWEVER...when you suicide, that mech is gone FOREVER and you have to buy a new one lol

I'd prefer a simple option to retreat by crossing a map boundary. Results in much less gain than you'd normally get, but at least your repair bill's smaller.
