So, bit new to the forums, and to BT in general. Just curious, how exactly is the integration of the Clans being planned? Haven't found any details regarding this in searching the forums.

Also, I want my Summoner...

This information is in the FAQ:

Q. What year is MechWarrior® Online™ taking place?

A. MechWarrior® Online™ is running an offset timeline of the BattleTech® Universe. As of this writing it is 2011 and the year is 3048 within the game. In 2012, when the game is launched, it will be 3049.

I'm sure we'll hear more when it becomes important to the timeline...

FYI, and welcome to the forums. ;)

clans are the good guys, inner sphere are the bads. Kerensky and the clans left because of the corruption of the inner sphere, they went beyond the edge of known space and perfected the warrior and warfare, and will be returning in late 3050 to try and cleanse the sphere ;)

thats the lore at least, not all people in the IS are evil, but the leaders ALL are. genocide, fratricide, you name it, its been done alot in the succession wars, or to start them. an in 3070 WoB starts a JIHAD, dont get more evil then that.

No good or bad guys in battletech...but plenty shades of gray to go around .. even within a single faction

What Outlaw said.

But some factions are made seem heroic more often than others, Warden Clans and Federated Suns in particular (Federated Suns, of course, only in their own political propaganda ;)).

Some factions get the role of villain more than others, Crusader Clans, Capellan Confederation and even Draconis Combine.

Often it's character dependant, Takashi Kurita may be bit of a conservative brute but Theodore Kurita is definitely a hero in Victor Steiner-Davion style.

ComStar/WoB reactionaries are pretty evil though.

But if its already 3049 when the game starts.. that means they have to integrate Clans until August. Since the Clans showed up in the periphery around 18th of August 3049 and started taking the first Rasalhague Planets around January 3050.

If they want to start beta in the summer with maybe an autum release date (if everything goes well?).. isnt that a little too soon?

the periphery isnt even suggested as being in game, only major House space is currently listed on the territory map, and we might not have anything other but the inner most edges of that currently, the galaxy is a big place, takes years to hyper jump from one far edge to the other.

So, the Clans never commited any atrocities? Really?

Clan Widowmaker: Butchered most of their merchant caste, and subsequently cheated during a Trial that resulted in Kerensky's death.

Clan Mongoose: 2844 - attacked and massacred an entire Star Adder colony on Marshall.

Clan Burrock : Found in 3059 to have been dealing with the Dark Caste for nearly a century.

Sure, you can argue that those Clans were properly punished (cease to exist), but then we come to Nicholas Kerensky.

Nicholas Kerensky was little more than a brutal, power hungry, ego-maniacal dictator. Many of the Clans were starting to rebel against his totalitarian authority, so what did he do? Wiped out the Wolverines. Why the Wolverines? Because Khan McEvedy basically told him to get stuffed. He manipulated her into going against Clan doctrine so that he could use them to further his own ambitions. McEvedy also accused Kerensky of using brutal tactics and torture on the populace of the Pentagon Worlds in order to bring them in-line. As bad as the Inner Sphere leaders may be, Nicholas embodied the worst of all of them.

They "have to"? Oh really? ;)

How about this scenario - Clans will not be playable in game. Only appear as NPCs, AI-controlled units. Thus PGI wouldn't need to rush anything there. Apart from the fact that at least 2 of 5 major factions/Houses could care less about the Clan invasion. Capellans and FreeWorlders sure as hell have no reason to commit large parts of their military to cross half the IS just in order to play firemen for some other House against "Clans". Thus the general importance of the whole "Clan Invasion" is probably overrated some... from that point of view. For the FWLM i.e. I don't expect to see any compelling reason to fight the Clans at all till well after Tukayyid in the timeline.
