I believe this deserves as much attention as it can get, and I wouldn't feel right not linking it here.

A real pc game, something that has been missing for many many years.

Considering it's being created by Chris Roberts, who is the man behind Wing Commander, I'd say it's the best chance we've got.

This game is either going to be amazing, or amazingly bad! However, since Chris Roberts is helming the project, I'm leaning on the former. :)

I'll let out an amazingly loud; Eeeehhh...
People have conveniently enough forgotten about the Descent series, Colony Wars, Star Wars whatevertheflyaroundinspacewascalled, Freelancer and more just because this is being made by the same guy who made Wing Commander series, and let's not forget;

He did make Wing Commander. . .

thats not just made by chris robers, the game IS wing commander, a bengal class carrier (tigers claw being the most remembered one out there) is from the wing commander universe as is the vega sector and those ships taking off from it look like scimitar class fighters... meaning this gameprobably takes place before or just at the beginning of the kilrathi war or the pilgrim war that came before it

it's really interesting (even though graphics are not stellar, but the concept could indeed bring some fun ... ) we'll see

Watch the video on the actual site, he goes into detail about the game. Everything he says sounds amazing, to me atleast. And the graphics and lighting look pretty damn good to me, way better then this game.(because they are, which you would know if you went to the actual website. The poly count is higher then your average game, it's being made to push limits. Not cater to people with weak systems or consoles.)
Also he is avoiding publishers, so he can make it the way he want's it. Not some money hungry company, that just want initial sales. He says on his website that this is his dream, and I can't wait. You really are selling yourself short if you don't go to his website and watch the video.

Everything about this sounds amazing. I especially like the claim that no publisher will be involved. That, for me, is a huge driving point for me to consider supporting development of the game.

Except that Chris Roberts himself directed and wrote it, which means it probably turned out pretty **** close to how he wanted it. Love the movie or hate it for itself, but it IS Wing Commander.
