Try this out:
Atlas-D (or Founder)
2xLRM 15
2xLBX-10
4xSmall Laser
325 Standard Engine
DHS (Just put the 3 additional in engine, 0 in any critical slot)
Endo Steel
Slightly lower Armor in Legs (I usually go with just 30)
Rest ammunition
You now are fine on range and can decide on any time to go more close range (Atlas Armor is wasted on Range so go at one point!).
Heat Management is fine for LRM fire, in close Range take LBX and Small Lasers. When heat is over 80% stop using lasers go only with LBX.
Its a competitive build, don't listen to the crowd, try out yourself! In my playgroup everybody said few weeks ago: LBX-10 is just bad. In the last weeks they changed their minds!
LBX-10 compared to AC-10:
- You get not only 1 ton you also get 1 slot which allows to dual in Atlas-D
- LBX 10 is incredible close range because you get 10 chances to crit! When you double even 20 and you usually hit many Hit-Regions. Any zone without armor=crits, crits, crits. You finish of very fast.
- LBX-10 fired on (higher!) distance hit something on a mech an he usually go into cover. That he only get 1 or 2 damage isn't much important. You make him busy. If you fire on distance in a mechbulk you can hit even mor ethan one. Sure no real damage but they get nervous.
For me AC10 and LBX-10 are at least on par. I prefer clearly the LBX.

You guys keep saying that, but I am going to tell you that I rip those Atlas' apart in my own Atlas.

It's fun, has a "punchy" feel, and it's great as a finisher in a brawl.

It's actually ****** because it's subjected to the same firing delay that all AC weapons (Including the 10) suffer from. Worse also because you need to be absurdly close to get most of the pellets in a single location.

But, I killed the double LBX-10 Atlas and you solo. Maybe you should rethink this strategy?
The atlas was focusing me and being picked apart by Chimeras Jenner while this was going on, lern2pay attention ***.

So to make a ****** weapon worthwhile you need to dedicate, what, 12 tons of weapons, a ton of ammo and countless heat sinks to back it up? You know you'd be doing better with a Gauss, yes?

Don't confused e-peen with optimization.
LBX-10 is a horrid weapon, even double slotted.
EZ way to fix this. If your interested PM me Ill hook you up with my merc corps TS and you can jump on tomorrow and we will setup a 8v8 drop vs each other and see who wins. Unless your worried you will get spanked by my horrid weapon setup.
