Perhaps this could work out for everyone: since we know that trial mechs are meant to be on a rotation they obviously can't allow full customization because the next week or day that mech may no longer be a trial mech.

So what if they allowed you only to swap in and out weapons/heat sinks/armor, but not allow things like FerroFibrous, Endo Steel, Double Heat sink upgrades. When you take a trial stock weapon off it does not get added to your inventory, and then when that trial mech gets rotated out, any items you had actually purchased with CBills will be placed back in your inventory.

Sounds like a win to me, and I don't even use Trial mechs.

lol, that's pretty much the same idea I had. I was thinking let them customize weapons / ammo / heatsinks but lock everything else. That would (probably) keep the mech in a similar role that it originally had, but allow the player to play around with things and get an idea for how different weapons affect a mech's perfomance, and ease them into stuff like changing out engines, upgrades, modules, etc.

The issue I see with this is it would essentially require almost 2 mech bays, one that is "fake" for the trials and one that is "real". The issue with trials is they are cannon and were balanced to cannon, where all the other mechs others are using are heavily customized so the balance is off. Like the raven trial, ravens going 80 kph is a death sentence. Lights have to move fast or they die, anything under 110 is painful. The awesome isn't bad, but the heat needs to be managed. I am against having trials be customized. Yeah I will get flammed for being a founder but still, I don't think that is the answer to this issue. If you wanna customize mechs, 2 options, pay 20 bucks and get MC to buy a mech with, or grind it out. I paid my money because I support the game.
