Not until around March of 3050 (2013)... so we have time before we'll see any Clan Mech...

Dont worry i am sure it will come eventually. MWO runs 1 to 1 with the timeline of Battletech the clan invasion should kick off around March then we will have clan stuff.
I know how you feel i really want a Mad Dog or Vulture as some people know it.

The Clans have not yet arrived, and so neither has any Clan mechs or clan technology.
Check back for Clan mechs next summer. Go strap into a trial mech

I am unfamiliar with the board game, but the computer games always built up to an assault class mech. I always felt it was a way to make the Mad Cat make it to the end of the game. Basically, make sure the iconic mech can be used under any conditions. It isn't a big deal, but just always seemed a bit lousy to me.
P.S. I can't wait for the Urbanmech MK XII assault mech. All 100 tons of her shooting quad gauss and 6 large lasers...FTW...right?

Ah yea you are right. Its been years and I do remember the timberwolf I thought they just changed the name later in the series I was not really up on the battletech story. Though on mechwarrior 3 case it is a mad cat not a timberwolf I think.
Timerwolf or I guess the mad cat? were my favourite. Although having the MKII as the heavier assault version was nice as the timberwolf / mad cat did get a little weaker as the game went on.
Considering in this game the assault mechs seem to be raping everything I think the MKII would be the better choice

It doesn't exist yet, for starters- MWO is set just before the Clan Wars. And it wasn't on the cover for MW1. When MW1 came out, the CLANS didn't exist yet- that is, 1989! The 'Mech on the front of the original Mechwarrior game is the now-Unseen Warhammer- and in turn that cover was a sorta-joke on the 1st edition Mechwarrior RPG, since instead of a Rifleman getting blown up from the cockpit, it was the Warhammer who had been doing the shooting on the RPG cover.

And Yeah, MWO seems to be set around the same time period as MW2 Mercenaries. 2049 Just before the first clan invasion. I can't has two of the mechs I want, because they're unseen

Actually, I believe the clans call it a Timberwolf and the Inner Sphere labeled it a Mad Cat.

Actually, all the clans call it the Timber Wolf.
It got the name Mad Cat because when the Innersphere first encountered it, their targeting computers couldn't figure out if it was a Marauder (MAD) or Catapult (CAT), and kept switching between the two designations. Hence the name Mad Cat.
