What does Salvage bonus come from?

I took note I only started getting it, when I piloted the mech I bought. I think it has to do with how well off your armor is and how much ammo you have left.

I have heard it was how much of this the opponent has though. But why would a trial mech player not get this?

I think it is NOT based on the enemy mechs in any way.

Nope, it's based on 2% of whatever enemy mechs you've killed have left, and then split among you and all your teamates. So to over simplify here if say you kill a mech and he had 75% damage on all components, then he'd be worth a straight 75% of what he would be normally if you just sold it. Now you make 2% of that 75% divided by your number of teamates.

Say the mech was worth 2million (random number I pulled out my ***) C-bills:
2mil*75% = 1.5mil
1.5mil*2% = 30k
now divided among you and your teammates
30k/8 = 3750 C-bills each player receives in salvage.

Also you only get salvage if you win.

In a trial mech, you don't pay repairs. In your own mech, you pay repairs but you get salvage. I think it makes kind of sense - if you got salvage in trial mechs, it would make c-bill farming easier on trials.
