The functionality of the Q key is great and I use it often. What I would like is a key to toggle this functionality on/off so I don't have to continuously hold the Q key. It would make command and control a bit easier as well as assisting the team-play a bit more.

I am actually surprised this functionality doesn't exist as it is pretty standard in most HUD type FPS games...

[Edit: Fixed a typo]

You probably don't want to have Q on at all time since it'll clatter your display too mutch.

Instead, it'll be alot better to tweak the way it's displayed right now:
For example showing just target letter and number of allies targeting it(let's say up to 4), instead of current full/empty triangle.

0 targeting Alpha, 1 on Beta, 4+ on Charlie

Or maybe even display targeting and [missile lock] LLR/SSRM (wouldn't really matter how many).

[missile lock] on Delta, [missile lock] and 2 on Echo, [missile lock] and 4+ on Foxtrot.

hp % can very well be displayed or not (that should be up to a checkbox in Options, even better if there's a hotkey to toggle it)

Well, to be fair, I don't mind the "clutter". And, if it proves to be too much at a given time, the ability to toggle it on and off (as requested) would fix the complaint, no?

Bump for Sinon Mei's idea. Sinon, make a separate thread for that idea, it's brilliant.
