Summary
Actual implementation of the C3 system (The actual C3 Master/Slave) system. Only have indirect fire support if there is a Mech capable and equipped with a C3 master system that relays target info to the C3 slave mechs.
Atlas or Naginata are examples for typical C3 Master support mechs.
Why?
Currently all mechs have a simplified system similar to C3i. Unfortunately its not limited to relaying information just for 6 mechs, but for all mechs. Also C3i would not be capable of handling things like TAG. Additionally it would bring a bit more depth to combat in general and also allow for more tactical gameplay once ECM is integrated into the game. Having a "smart" system will give the game more depth than the current simplified "If 1 Mech sees it, everyone else can target it" system.
How it would work
It would allow a 8 man team, consisting of two Lances, to have at least one or even two command relay capable Mechs in their lance if they want full tactical information relayed. A lance that dedicates a Mech to this role will have a benefit of improved tactical awareness and better target assistance, also allowing TAG to be used.
Benefits
Would give more tactical / strategical depth to a full, well organized lance, allow for actual use of TAG, and would give the game a more realistic way of how combat targeting is managed in the Mechwarrior universe. Also would force a lance that does not want to sacrifice space/tonnage for C3 Master/Slave modules to use a tight knitted strategy with manual target assist.
Disadvantages
A lance with a dedicated support Mech, using a C3 master system and 3 slaves efficiently, will most likely win against a lance without any communication relay, ECM equipment or very skillful teamplay
Possible alternative
Limit the current C3i-like system to relaying target information only to the 6 closest mechs with a limit of target information to 5 other Mechs at any time.
