I am going to be formatting this main drive soonish and I have been looking to see where all the files were to back them up. I do not wish to have to download the entire game again if that makes sense. I did a search but didn't come up with anything, can someone help me out to make sure that I have everything? I know that some games put files in multiple places is the reason I ask.

Just copy this folder "C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\USER\Profiles" and all its sub-folders to your backup; Then restore them after the format and installation of MWO again.

that folder Mechwarrior Online is only like 1.7gigs... surely that isn't the enitre game?!?!

Yes that's the current size of the game as it's compressed and more is coming.
