I'm on the fence on whether to buy this or not. When Ravens first came I found them to be fun to pilot, but not really punchy enough for my taste.
Now I realise that the 3L is the EW (electronic warfare) posterboy and I just want to get some first-hand information from pilots of this sucker. How effective is the BAP? How flexible is the loadout configuration? How does it compare combat-wise to other ravens?
(I always try to find new ways to play the game, going the support route would be nice if it's really well implemented)

Pre SSRM patch with the change to hitting just the center torso. BAP not used till now but reading what it does tells me i really don´t need it on a Raven ...

My gut instinct is to wait for the Guardian to be implemented before you jump into the 3L. As it stands, the 'mech is really only half of what it should be, and frankly with the Beagle as it is I'm not sure it's worth mounting at all (I'd rather see it keep sensor range the same but allow detection of enemies out of LOS).

I realy like the game so far but the radar implementation is only adequate.
The maps are so small that radar is secondary at best to LOS/HUD indicater, when I can walk a few meters and see the enemy base and all the heat signitures it makes me wonder what effect a Raven will realy have when ECM comes out anyway. Since the the small map size will guaranty a 5 minute brawl fest, the scout role is mitigated after the first 30 seconds.
I also would like to know why we have the only square radar ever invented? If they thought it would look like the free mod MWLL(which has a superior sighting system and much better radar) they are wrong, it would just look like a real radar screen. I spend to much time looking at the corners of the square which is probably the reason no military or goverment on Earth uses square radar.
The HUD radar is not very cool either as it blocks the cockpit and view, I hope they incorporate the radar into the cockpits along with other sim like instruments completly in the future, making cockpit layout an important design element.

ECM isn't in the game yet but the 3L is easily the best Raven regardless. It can have the fastest engine of any Raven, a 295, which will let you keep up with any other Light. Two missile points for two SSRM's, great to match punches with Jenner's and Commando's. It's weapon layout in general is the best of any Raven chassis with two Energy slots on an arm, an Energy and Missile slot on the body, and a Missle slot on the other arm. I've lost my Energy arm and have still operated A-OK because of how spread out it's weapons are. In general it's a great layout for a Light, not having anything too much in one spot. The 3L's stock loadout isn't bad either and would be really cheap to change weapons around into something more suitable.
When ECM does hit you'll also have the modules for it sitting in your garage.

In the linked video it was:
295 XL engine
2 med. lasers
2 SSRM2 with 2 tons of ammo
AMS with 1 ton of ammo
1 TAG
CASE
FF armor
Endo Steal
DHS with 2 additional HS used
215/238 Armor
If i remember correct.
Currently i am running around with:
295 XL engine
2 med. lasers
2 SSRM2 with 2 tons of ammo (located one in each leg)
AMS with 1 ton of ammo (located head)
1 TAG
Guardian ECM (maybe some day it will actually work)
FF armor
Endo Steel
DHS with 1 additional HS used (located in the engine)
215/238 Armor
