As the topic says: suggestions for this project http://mwomercs.com/...nfluenced-mech/

Time table: Each thursday i will make a new poll and each friday you can start suggesting ideas for the next poll within the parameters.

Week 47: Poll for mech main type(light, med, heavy, assault) and tonnage
Followed by open time for next poll suggestions.
Week 48: 2 Polls for Mech sub types torso (Separate Torso and head, Torso and head somewhat overlapping, ) and limbs (proper arms like atlas, etc. or stubs like jenner or cat for example)

Week 49: Poll for mech design role(brawler, missile boat etc.) http://mwomercs.com/...-project-polls/

Week 50: Polls for the different variants hard point counts Squeezed em all together. http://mwomercs.com/...erimentattempt/

Week 51: Hard point clustering / variant / type. (long polls 1 poll / hard point, hopefully people wount get confused, But hey, what wount we do to see our creation... And for science, you monsters! ) Any place will go, hell want a missile hard point in a leg? We can do that, it is the point of this experiment, you guys, get to choose, i will just try to draw it using my imagination and CAD and the guide lines you guys give me ;)
And open suggestions for NP 1

Week 52: Name poll 1: What should the name be influenced, for example, myth, animals, natural phenomena, a Meme???
Open suggestions for Name poll 2:
2013-

Week 1: after name poll1 is done, no polls for first week, rather suggestions for names, for example if natural phenomena won, we might see suggestions like; Sublimination, Solar wind, Aurora etc. etc.

Week 2: Name poll 2, based on hot suggestions, top 10 choices according to how many likes they have gotten.

Then the though decision...

Week 3: Where do we want the "design Flaw" for example, take the catapults stubby arms that are less flexible as far as aiming comes, and the big cockpit, or Will the mech have a fragile left/right shoulder area etc. etc. to add that special element to it ;D or will it simply be balanced as far as armor plating and component design goes.

Week 4-7: The wheels of imagination at work, guiding my hands to create(hopefully) a mech that looks like you guys imagined it.

Why does your poll have no option for 75 tons Heavies? I intend(ed) to vote for a Marauder-look alike. ;)
(I just have to fight off all that will try to make a Mad-Cat look-alike.)

In fact, you're also missing the 80 ton assaults.

So, basically, for a Marauder Look-Alike (ignoring weight for a moment) what would one need?

Arms:
Not sure how one would classify them. "Carrying Arms"?

Torso:
Rounded, Forwards pointed, with a top-mounted big gun

Cockpit/Head:
Jet Fighter like / Integrated in the upper angle of the torso

Legs:
Chicken Legs FTW!

Design Flaw:
Large Center Torso? Not sure.

Thanks.

You may want to put your "plan/schedule" in the first post of this thread, if you intend to use this as the discussion thread for all the polls.

Hmm not sure what you meant, but if i understood it right, do you mean the type of arm that is somewhat, short, but has only 2 of 3 joints(Shoulder and wrist joints)

I got closer to this Posted Image

Minus some more of the chicken, add more cyborg, minus wings, add short arms with slots for 2 LB10 X AC's and a laser port in the head(eye) and on top a retractable Ultra Ac - 5 :D

Judging from the sample size for the poll recieved so far, any objections if i consider a succesfull poll to have 30 or more votes?

Maybe, though it seems a tad low. I think the problem with "poll only" topics is that they don't float back to the top when someone votes. So they disappear at the later pages. Is there a way for you to change the type of the thread? I know you'd probably prefer to have all feedback in a different thread, but does it really matter?

I am actually having a separate feedback thread because i didnt see any way to make it a topic with feedback and poll :S

Edit:Typo

I tried to vote for a 20-ton light, but there was no such option.

What would be the point in that, i am just asking out of curiosity, i mean look at commando, that is 25 tons, **** poor armament in general and gets outran by jenners and ravens, would you really like to substract 5 tons from that?

Yes. I kill Jenners and Ravens (and Cats, 'Phracts, and Atlases, and every other type of 'mech) on a daily basis in my Commandos. I'm looking forward to the Flea. What I really would like to see is a 20-ton humanoid jump-jet capable light, like the Stinger or Wasp.

But since you seem unwilling to accommodate the whole spectrum of Battletech weight classes, I can only wish you good day and good luck.

Well i am not a "Hard core fan/Table top player" so i was not aware of the 20 ton class, and as far as armament and armor and speed goes ( all 3) i am not seeing the point of having a mech that would be either slower but with same armor and weapons as commando, or lighter armed/armored and same speed as commando. Like i said out of curiosity, because i am finding hard to believe your going toe to toe with jenner or raven and coming on top even w/o a trial com. Also to further "validate" my curiosity, i have never seen a commando go 1 on 1 with a jenner or raven and come out on top, i shudder to imagine how a mech that is either A.) armed worse, or B.) is slower. Comes out from a fight like that. Sure i can believe your finishing off jenners and ravens, but i am not buying that your actually going toe to toe and coming on top.

But ok, if you absolutely, want it to be a 20 ton, ill add that option.(still think it is silly though :S)

Also i was close not to add it, since it looks like you took my question as an insult and avoided it alltogether. But added it for the sake of covering all bases.

Edit: Also jumpjets on the 20 ton, would mean you again have to sacrifice something big. from armament size or from armor, or speed. So i will go ahead and repeat my original question, Do you really want to strip 5 tons from commando level armament/armor/engine tonnage capacity?

First: http://www.sarna.net...ton_BattleMechs

Second: Why would you assume that the Commando is slower or has worse armament? The speed difference between a maxed-out Jenner and a maxed-out Commando is 3.8 kph, and a COM-2D can mount a 50-point alpha or triple SSRM-2s with a MPL as back-up. It punches way above its weight. The other variants might not punch as hard, but their armament options are far from useless. I regularly run a 1B with 3xMPL and a 1D with 2xSSRM-2 and a large laser.

Third: It's perfectly doable to go 1-on-1 with a Raven or Jenner and come out on top. It's just not a very bright thing to do, as you will take a lot of damage if the enemy pilot is any good at all. The mantra of any light pilot should be "never get into a fair fight". In my several hundred drops with a Commando I've died to a lot of Jenners and some Ravens, and I've killed my fair share of both Ravens and Jenners in 1-on-1s. Whether you care to believe that or not is up to you, I have no way of proving it to you.

Finally: If you add a 20-ton option, I'll use it. If not, well. One person does not a poll break.
