If you ignore the cockpit (which is awesomely rendered and animated when walking around, so there's no issue there) the "camera"/eye/pilot's view just... floats around.
It feels like a gamebryo-production (elder scrolls series).
I'd like a (ever so slight) bobbing of the actual pilot head. I'm not sure how that would translate into netcode and game balance, but if I would wish for one thing I haven't seen been suggested before, this is it
For reference, MW3:

'Eyes' of pilot just floating over surface. And it feels like I'm moving the camera in virtual space. Shaking of cockpit is needed but not enough! Look at Mechwarrior 3 if it is not clear what I'm talking about. Make 'pilots eyes' bobbing relatively surface! Please =)

You could just bob your head around to get the same effect
The video looks like the pilot is correcting for the mechs movement, like he would naturally. I can't say it is a bad suggestion even with other more important issues at hand, only because it looks so good.

call me dumb as bread, but i don't see the difference

Nope. I see absolutely no difference either. If you focus on the background ridge, you will notice, that only the Cockpit frame is moving at all. The view point does not shake at all with the feet movement or the weapon hits.

Easy to fix. Every time your 'mech takes a step, bob your head up and down.

The idea is great.

I don't think this will work for the fact that when I walk or drive a car I don't notice head bobble. This is because your body feels the motion and your head/eye compinsate. If your static and the scene moves you notice it.

By extension of that logic I could just play the game in my mind.
What I'm talking about is that the "camera" is just floating in a static height above the terrain with a movig cockpit around it.
There's no elevation when the mech takes a new step, only the cockpit around the camera moves up and down. Which to me breaks immersion.
If you look at two examples, gamebryo-games like morrowind shows off the floating effect well:
Here you see the character run around, up and down stairs and through the environment and the head/eyes/camera just slides along.
Here you have a soldier running and gunning, and the head moves correspondingly to the various actions (jogging, sprinting, reloading etc.)
Do you see the difference, and my point?
edited plenty of times for stupid embedding

Hmm, I see what you mean. But I think it's good that they keep it kind of level because it works for gameplay value. It might be necessary the way it is for aiming purposes. I also noticed, though, that your arms don't move or bob in juxtaposition to your view when you're moving either, contrary to your torso. (even though if you watch a mech walk its arms will definitely sway around a little)

Ok. Here is short 'Mechwarrior 3' video where head (the camera) bobbing (relatively to the ground) is easy to notice.
Especially when running over the bridge at 0:47 (watch on the left or right edge of frames to notice the bridge is closer/farther). If you are still unable to notice, imagine the cockpit rendering is set to OFF.
I repeat: at this point the camera in MWO is still in vertical axis, so a can't feel I'm in mech. I just realize that I'm moving the camera in virtual space with WASD keys. I hope developers have that camera bobbing feature in 'to do' plans.
PS
I like how Mechwarrior 3 is still atmospheric 'simulator' of heavy machines! Developers managed to add every single feature for us to be able to feel the Mech. Even the SFX is great, sounds HEAVY!
And I like that MWO developers are trying to make MWO in the same way. I wish them luck.
