Is it realy needed to bump a topic that many times?

Anyway. I don't like the idea of adding anymore shortcuts then there already is.

How do you master a variant without ever piloting that variant?

Sorry, but it is P2W.

Agreed. It's like paying to get a character to max level in an RPG. It's P2W.

Yes, because gathering that experience on another character and paying to transfer it over is so hilariously P2W. YOU STILL HAVE TO WORK FOR IT.

It is not the same. Some "work" is harder than others. Ask anybody that "worked" to level the Raven. The grind was FAR FAR harder in the 2X and 4X than in the 3L. Applying 3L XP to the other variants would be less work, not the same.

But that is exactly what XP->GXP, a currently existing system, allows. You can grind 171750 XP on the 3L,
convert 114500 of that to GXP...

...and if you have the 2X and 4X, proceed to systematically master all three - without ever driving the 2X or 4X. And doing so costs "only" 4580 MC.

OP wants to cut out the "have the 2X and 4X" and save a heavy 'Mech's worth of cbills, and that's all.

I wouldn't mind the grind so much if all variants were of roughly the same quality, the problem is that some of them are pretty mediocre. Lets take a look at the "oh no i have to grind a .." mechs shall we.

Atlas K - it's not awful but lacks a hard point or a missile point depending on comparison, it gets a extra AMS, playable but lackluster compared the the other variants, If AMS was more useful (like 40% more ) then i could see it serving a purpose in a pre-made as a missile umbrella or even a pug match on occasion. AMS usefulness countered by ECM mechs , Damage by every other Atlas Variant.

Stalker 3H - don't even know who would choose this over any of the other variants, if anyone can give me one good reason please do

Awesome 8Q - probably just me, seems to be nothing but a huge blast furnace that spends half the match overheating, you can strip weapons for heatsinks or control your fire / heat, but the realistic damage output just seems impractical for a mech of this class.

Any light that doesn't have ECM, other than the new Spider which kind of makes up for the lack of a missile point due to speed and JJ's the other chassis seem to get stomped by ECM / SSRM builds, stomping with Raven 3l's and Commando 2D's is the new black. BTW i have both the 3L and the 2D and only die to other 3L / 2D's or several lights with a 3L / 2D with them.

there are others, the 4sp / 4j comparison would be another i guess.

The problem isn't so much the Mechs themselves it seems to be a combination of small flaws in the game that are just compounded on certain variants, heat and heatsinks hinder some compared to the variants with ballistic / missile points , ECM lights that have multiple Missile Hard points for streaks and so on. If they were all comparable in sustainable damage or had some real utility that offset a lack of, then people would probably be happier playing them.

Lasers are supposed to free you from Ammo concerns ( Depletion / explosion ) and free up weight to be taken in heat sinks) while giving instant hit damage for less overall DPS, but mechs dont usually last long enough in a match for that to be a real benefit.

I like this game, i mean what's more fun then rampaging around in a huge robot of doom blowing the poop out of each other?...nothing that's what. But the game does have a ways to go imho.

However, the game is still in Beta so maybe with tuning the /facepalm variants may end up getting some love and not being the grubby little secret the other variants pretend not to notice.
