I think it would be best if players were allowed to save the various camo specs that they have purchased for later use.

Allow them to save up to four camo spec profiles, then offer additional profile slots for extra MC (kinda like how mech bays are set up).

That way, players can quickly apply a saved profile to a mech without forcing them to re-purchase color specs they already bought.

It's fair. It's efficient. And it will ultimately reduce player resentment, which will in turn be healthier for the game.

The more I think about it, I would gladly pay money to be able to buy savable camo spec profiles. I'm convinced this is the way to handle it.

Vote for savable Camo Spec profiles!
  • Pay for a camo spec once and use it whenever you want!
  • Save up to 4 camo spec profiles by default!
  • Purchase additional profiles for 300 MC!
  • Apply a camo spec profile to any mech you own!

or have it that the first time you buy a camo spec it costs MC to unlock and then after that it costs CBills to apply it

Yeah...even that would be better than how they'e handling it now.

I vote no. I want to buy a pattern / color with MC only once and use it whenever I want. I'm willing to pay C-bills for a re-paint, but I'm not spending MC on it.

That's essentially what purchasing a camo spec profile would do, only it gives you more paint to use instead of just one color.

So instead of just buying Winter White...you'd buy the entire camo spec, that includes Winter White plus whatever colors you selected for the rest of the camo spec you purchased.

You make it sound more like saving a specific paint job, like a set combination of pattern + colors, for a given mech, and only having a few such combinations saved.

I'm talking about, I purchase the Dazzle scheme, and I can use it with whatever colors I want on my Jenner, my other Jenner, my Hunchback, my Catapult, my Atlass, my Centurion...etc, without paying additional MC to re-purchase the Dazzle pattern again. I can paint my Jenner Red and Blue, and my Atlass Green and Purple.

Likewise, when I buy Winter White I want to be able to use it on every mech, and if I can't decide if I want to keep using it or not, I want to be free to swap it out for another color, but if I want to change my Atlass from red to White later, I don't need to re-purchase white to do so, maybe only pay a C-bill fee to have it applied.

I like this game, and I'll probably spend money on it. Like...a lot...as in, I want to own every mech even the hero models. But I don't want to have to buy the same things over and over again. I want to unlock a color, or the hula girl for the dashboard, and put it on/in every one of my mechs.

Ok. I get what you're saying. Yeah, it would be nice if you could just use any color/pattern once you "unlock" it.

That said, wouldn't it also be nice to be able to save camo spec profiles?

Reposted from General thread... figured it's better off in the suggestions thread...

My suggesion:

Skins:
* MC Payment for Skins be unlocked permanently on a PER MECH basis -- If you have four Catapult A1's and you want the same custom skin on each, you have to buy it four times.
* As long as you keep the mech, you can switch to any purchased skins.
* Some C-Bill Cost to change is acceptable.

Colors:
* Add 4-6 more Basic C-Bill required colors... something that can actually look good together would be nice.
* Raise the MC cost of the rest (up to 1000-1500 for the "high demand" ones).
* MC purchased colors should be permanently unlocked and available for ALL MECHS
* some C-Bill cost to switch is acceptable.

These are my thoughts .. and here's to hoping some considerations can be made... as this "money grab" method is really disappointing.

OK. So let's look at this:
  • Unlock Premium Colors with MC (150-250 MC each)
  • Once unlocked, Premium Colors can be applied to any mech you own for CB. I suggest 10-20K per color.
  • Once purchased, Camo Specs may be saved to a profile and applied to any mech you own
  • You start with four available Camo Spec profile slots. Additional profile slots may be unlocked with MC (300 MC)

I agree.

They NEED unlockable Premium Colors.

However, I still want to be able to save the Camo Specs I purchase.

This was my suggestion in the other thread.

As is, I'm not inclined to buy any camo's for any of my 'Mechs. I'd rather spend my MC on Hero 'Mechs, 'Mech Bays, and cockpit baubles. Things I get to keep. I see an easy way to modify the system that would take very little effort.

Camo Slots per Chassis
  • Just like 'Mech Bay slots, you get the default per chassis and can buy as many as you want.
  • Player retention of skins encourages the purchase of multiple skins.
  • Skin Ownership = More purchases = More money.
  • Requires no changes to current Camo economic system.
Specifics of Camo Slots
  • Each slot can hold one custom skin design, as paid for.
  • 125/500 MC per permanent slot

Raeven, I'd be totally cool with that.

As is, I absolutely HATE that you must rebuy a Camo Spec that you already bought. I'd prefer if you could apply the saved camo spec to any of your mechs...but one is better than none.

This idea of paying for individual colors (and premium colors) and also for patterns PER MECH (i.e., $3-4 each) is nuts and I will not spend a dime on it. As it stands, I would prefer to pay a $15/month subscription fee and have access to all of the colors and patterns for all of my Mechs than this piecemeal approach.

Actually, yeah I'd pay a monthly sub to have all content unlocked.

Another idea would be to have accounts with active premium time be able to buy all colors with c-bills...not MC.

Even with that, I still want to be able to save different camo specs so I don't have to buy them again.

Hah, I just posted this idea to another thread in this forum not knowing someone had a thread dedicated to the issue.

+1. In fact, +more money that I throw at the screen if the developers implement these ideas. There's no way in hell I'm paying real money to buy a paint scheme for one mech when I own three (and will continue to purchase them as I can).
