What is your winning tactic, technique, procedure, build, teamwork emphasis, etc?

i'm a sniper into the firesupport role so i scan the horizon to get early damage disadvantage to the opposing team, then i look out for team mates and lend fire to the target they're attacking. sometimes i'm forced to brawl myself but i try and avoid it for lag reasons. other than that i mostly play the outrange them stratagy.

old motto: if you wanna box smart send some other geezer into the ring.

If its for pub matches I'd say don't hesitate, look for opportunities, don't leave teammates hanging, support damaged allies, figure where the enemy is so no back capping, and stay grouped. Even long range builds should stay relatively close, not half way across the map. As a 2 artemis lrm 15s and 4 med laser Catapult C1, this, including a good sense of situational awareness does really good.
As a heavy mech you have good armor and the 4 med laser on a catapults torso are really easy to aim so use them to full advantage, half my damage comes from those 4 med lasers and I get 800+ damage matches regularly. So never be too afraid too mix it up and soak some damage for your team, even if your mostly long range builds. Its a team game, as good as you are alone, a good team will tear you apart, even in pubs. A good player will utilize his teammates as best he could anyways.

Get in that DDC, get them pugs in tow and be the first one in with the AC20 hammer. Die or not the pugs will pick up the rest

Most groups simply Overwhelm.

Some go try to be sneaky:

But often, no matter what you try to do, it ends up just like a PUG:

3 tactics isn't really chess, it spells dull. and overwhelm and sneaky usually end up with battle confusion. have you got the brawl card cause it's being used too oftern. ;P

single most important tip for victory - focus fire on a single target

by all means take pot shots, and take steps to avoid return fire, but when someone calls a target you should take every opportunity to fire on that target

ECM up. Group up. Run the long way round to their base. Don't see a single mech. Profit.

Step one: Get two Steiner scout lances with ECM cover.
Step two: Onwards!

If complete success is not achieved, repeat step two.

Other than that, coordinated team play usually manages to do the job well, but one can't be sure with ECM now, so why take chances.

For 8 mans I like a lance of brawlers and a lance (or at least 3) fast movers.

Drop with a friend on comms and then just....charge and kill things. As long as rest of pugs act as a shield and are taking damage for us we're good. Warning in case you wanna try this....sometimes it horribly horribly fails.

2v2 - we got this
2v3 - managable
2v4 - hard but possible

2v8 - OMG we're dead....let's hope our pugs will win rest of the match.

As a CMD-2D:

- Stick with the most tonnage -> screen them via ECM
- If enemy light mechs show up -> shoot them down, still try to sceen most of your mates
- If enemy ECM shows up -> switch to ECCM Mode and shoot them down asap, then switch back to screening
- In the meantime light up enemies with your red pocket light of doom.
- For the rest, listen to what the commander says and do it.

Usually earns me top 3 score and a win,
