PGI where do you stop the non canon stuff? Will there be force fields? What about Mechs that don't have heat? Will we see phasers? What about alien tech? Because the way you went so far of the Battletech Universe with this ECM really nothing is off the table.
Have you read the rules on ECM? It does nothing more then cancel BAP, NARC, ARTEMIS. In itself that's nice, but it also for some unknown reason now it masks signatures, makes locking ranges shorter, and inside the bubble magically lock on weapons don't work.
Please tell me why?
I have never played a lrm boat or streak cat, but I also don't play halo or cod or any other stupid fps . So if I am in the minority and battle tech is headed in that direction just let me know and I will be happy to get out, go back to megamek or tt and wait until you lose the ip and a company that gives a **** about the ip picks it up and trys again.

According to canon it also interferes with sensors and targeting computers including the range in which a mech can be detected by said sensors. There is more to canon than just tabletop rules. Remember we are not battling in hexes here.

You dont like it, because it's not exactly cannon? Or because you dont like loosing a portion of your firepower? What exactly is your issue with it? To hate change, is to hate evolution. Does everything remain exactly the same with sequals of other game series? AH no, because there is a little somthing called progress. Now weather this new brand of ECM is viable or not, is a different matter. So do you just not like the mechanics of the new ecm, or do you not like change?

It's not canon. It makes choices of mech useless or less desirable, why play any light that doesn't have ecm, or an A1. And besides that it doesn't feel like battletech. It doesn't add strategy it takes away, pigeon holeing people into playing a brawl fest style game.

ECM is the best thing to happen to this game.

Your only forced to play a brawl style if you don't have either of the following - 1. eyes 2. 'h' key -

I see them just fine, just as I can tell the enemy sees me just fine under ecm cloak when the acs and lasers start landing on target. There's absolutely no reason anyone on your team has to have ecm, you just need to plan your tactics to counter it as any team would have to do going into battle with some intel on their opponents.

I'd say that giving the Raven a use is hardly taking away strategy. It's also starting to give people a second incentive to stick together to benefit from the ECM cloud.

And JR7-D... that pretty much seals the deal on 'why use any Mech that doesn't have ECM'. What I'm more concerned about is why the other 2 Raven variants can't mount ECM.

... and how strong ECM is. 180m-200m is hardly an acceptable locking range. Try 180m-400m.

Canon sensers: decreased sensor range, not make invisible.
Canon targeting: increases lock time of weapons, not nullifys them completely.

OP is absolutely correct. screw current ECM state.

Oh yeah, there's a pinned ECM feedback thread. Please post in that thread instead.
