[Bug] Possible Issue With Hud And Ecm

I have come to the conclusion, and would like feedback on, issues with the HUD and ECM.

The relevant line is this:

You will not know where your teammates are, and they won’t know where you are, unless you have direct line of sight to each other.


I read this as, if you have line of sight to a friendly mech, even when they are under ECM disruption, they will show on your HUD as friendly.

When looking at HUD disruption caused by ECM it should have the following effects under the current implementation:

Friendly mechs not under ECM will display over the entire battlefield regardless of Line of Sight
Friendly mechs with low signal bars are under enemy ECM but still in LoS
Friendly mechs under friendly ECM display with eye symbol on battlefield regardless of LoS
Enemy mechs outside of ECM, while in LoS of any friendly mech will display on entire battlefield
Enemy mechs under enemy ECM will not display on HUD while over 200m away regardless of LoS
Enemy mechs under enemy ECM will display on HUD as normal between 200 to 180m away in LoS
Enemy mechs under enemy ECM will display with flickering while in LoS under 180m
LoS to an enemy mech with no modifiers is a native 800m range
Enemy mechs under influence of friendly TAG will display regardless of LoS

I have been testing the above conditions, and also observing other posts from people and I believe there is a bug with the conditions of LoS while under Enemy ECM.

There have been heaps of comments from people stating "They couldn't tell who to shoot at". I have also observed that in many instances, under 800m while in LoS to friendly mechs they disappear from the HUD. From what I understand this is not working as intended. Even more so, while under enemy ECM your HUD functions as normal for all mechs in LoS, with degraded performance - not none at all. Degraded performance is not being able to acquire a lock (due to flickering), all other information displays such as components health.

There have been too many posts that seem to reflect an inability to tell Friend from Foe since ECM was introduced. I believe this is a major contributor to the difficulty people are experiencing with ECM.

Can devs and other players please ratify my conclusions and sanity check the conditions as I understand them. If I am incorrect in my points please let me know. I personally have experienced the lack of IFF due to ECM which as I understand it is likely a BUG.

Had this happen again this morning but wasn't recording. Will keep trying to get a good example to report!

Bump. I believe this has been happening consistently with me. Will try to at least get a screenshot, but I don't have recording software. The other night, I was not able to ID a friendly (?) HBK within 300m. He was on a hill, but otherwise direct line of sight. Had no IFF, no signal bar, etc.
