Can We Look Into The Possibility Of Cataphracts Critical Damage Being Bugged?

Ive never had so many instances of crits taking out pairs of weapons on opposite sides of the mech.

It seems the arms or side torsos like to crit at the same time. It also seems one crit roll will crit all areas taking damage at that time. So a bad roll on your right arm will also crit the other arm, or in some cases, the side torso(s) also...even opposite sides.

Though its possible im sure, I thought it was odd when I got alphaed by a SRM Cat when I had very little armor damage...thats a lot of spread out damage I know, and it crit both arms, removed them and both side torsos. I lost ammo on my right side, AC10 on my left and then several laser spread out about both arms in one alpha.

How close was the cat? If he was in your face you probably took 3 full blasts to each torso rather than 6 spread across your entire front.

SRM6 Cat has one of the highest alphas in the game, if not the highest.

As an alpha cat pilot i can say yes thats how it is right now, since the game dosent allow killshots anymore i dose pread the dmg around, i ussaly target the big gun on the torso of the catafrats, i know they cann only put a a certain amout of armor in that and i ussaly shoot in your face style that means 90 dps in that side where it has only say 40 armor, the other dmg i deal will have to spread sowhere to prevent u from dying in 1 volly.

It was point blank, we were in those buildings on the ridge line mid-map on frozen city(right upagainst the wall for the tunnel).

I figured his alpha would be strong enough to do the type of damage it did. That instance was more of a reminder to post about other instances of crits on the Cataphract that ive notice. As i was running around with no arms it brought to mind the other times that rendered me with multiple dead weapons for much less.

As Ive said, it seems opposing pairs will crit at the exact same time, mainly the arms, but on occasion the side torsos too. It just seems one crit roll becomes a blanket crit roll for all imapcts at that moment, resulting in alphas(especially with ballistics) causing me to lose multiple mounts simulataneously on opposite sides of the mech.

when armor gets low there are chances that a crit will happen to a weapon thats still "protected". Case in point, losing an AC20 while armor is still there, but very low (red). In the case of the SRM cat, it has a crti chance per a missile, so thats basically a 36% crti chance every time it fires. If said cat crti your ammo, that would explain that loss of the arm or torso in the same hit, as exploding ammo will take it out. Ammo explosions don't do what they used to do, which there was a sfx to the exploding and knock effects on the cockpit while they were going off. Now it all blows up at once and will take the arm or torso (sometimes both) with it if it has ammo in it, and even it will take you with it.

The crit system seems a bit....touchy as many a time I have lost my CT ML's long before my actual CT goes. So even single crit weapons are a lot more susceptible then they once were. As before you would almost never lose a ML to anything, and very rarely would the lucky crit happen. On the flip side of that I have also had my armor taken off on my HB and taken many more hits after that, and not lost the AC/20. Even tho once armor is gone its pretty much a guarantee that it will be taken out. It dose seem tho that ballistic and missile based weapons have better crit seeking then lasers do. And rightly so, since your being hit with an explosive rather then a beam of coherent light. It just really dose depend on the luck of the roll that the game has when damage in being applied, sometimes you get lucky and you don't get a crit, other times.....well you just die.

Cataphracts' seems to have hitpoints issues, many times I get frontal hits that get registered to the rear armor, or leg hits that are registered to front CT. Hope they'll fix it soon.

While frying Cataphracts with my large lasers I've never seen weapons on the opposite side of the body get critted.

If someone shoots through your armpit they can easily hit the rear armor from the front. Someone shooting at your legs can easily also shoot your gyro (pelvis) which is a large target on every mech and counts as CT; Even if you have your torso turned so they are not facing your chest, they can shoot your front CT by shooting you in the crotch (and ditto for the rear of the gyro if you have 'defensively torso twisted' to turn your rear torsos out of the line of fire)
