An incredibly odd problem occurred with the patcher. I start the patcher. MWO logo appears. MWO logo disappears and mechlab fails to launch. Can't relaunch patcher because a process of the patcher is still running. Close the process in task manager, and the same cycle repeats itself.

I've had this happen as well, and my computer far exceeds the game's specs.

I, too, repeatedly ended task on the patcher program and restarted the game. Eventually, I realized simply waiting is what works. I have no idea what the patcher is doing when it hangs like this, but it seems it's doing something. Maybe if your computer is slow it's stuck even longer than mine.

Try waiting a couple mins to see if it just starts before you end task and relaunch?

started to play this game a few weeks back and it worked fine... (15fps-20fps ish)

was running a 7 year old system.

AMD FX-55 single core overclocked to 4 GHz range.
dual nvidia 9800gts in SLI
4 Gb RAM

after the last patch-ish i noticed too much 4fps issues to the point where the game was truly unplayable.

Fortunately i work in IT at a large college and have acces to multiple platforms so i tried lots.
the list includes (but not limited to)

5 different ATI/AMD video cards (HD 4xxx 5xxx)
7 different Nvidia video cards (9600, 9800, 4xxGT 5xxGT)

intel boards:

d945gtp (** 3Ghz) 8gb ddr2 667
dg965ss (core2 2.16 and 2.66) 8 gb ddr2 667 and 800
dq35j0e (core2 3Ghz) 8 gb ddr2 800
dq57tm (1156 I5) 8 gb ddr3 1066
dq67tm (1155 I5) 8 gb ddr3 1333
dq77 (I5 and I7) 8 gb ddr3 1333

until i got to the I5's the game played like crap. i mean crap. CPU usage with cpu monitoring software placed consumption constantly at 100%.

so i bought an AMD FX8320 with an asus M5a99FX MoBo. and 16 Gb of ddr3 1600

60 fps constantly.

so the lesson from this is to spend 490$ at newegg.com or tigerdirect.com or whereverelseyou buy.com to fix the low fps bug.

when i mean this game is cpu intensive.. I MEAN INTENSIVE. 4 cores are required for this game MINIMUM.

send me a message if you need help with a new system/troubleshooting anytime.

Wow, lots of interest. Thanks for all the replies. Mostly, it was just a vent :0)

Also glad to know that I wasn't the only one experiencing the problem. I will try a couple more times waiting longer before ending the process, then reinstalling. But that will be about it. I really can't reinstall so often. It takes WAY to long to download the whole entire game.

Just disappointed by the fact that I can't play and the carelessness with which the problem was handled.

Hmmm... Seems that if you do wait long enough, the game does start. Not sure how long that is though. Some time between 10 min and 8 hours. Got tired of waiting and went to bed. At least the game is redownloading quickly now that I frigid out windows update was slowing my connection!

Maybe there is still hope. It is comfortable, but at least hopeful!

Uninstall and run CCleaner. Works like a charm.

What anti-virus and/or anti-malware suite are you running? Certain suites inject a NLP (Network Layer Proxy) in order to inspect and transparently proxy web traffic. This may be causing the download(s) to fail silently. I have seen this happen with ESET, Symantec, Comodo, and McAfee mostly. I would completely uninstall the game. Delete any left over files. Reboot. Disable your AV and any anti-spyware for the duration (and for heaven's sake don't do any surfing while you are doing this). Install the game. See if you can run and patch to the current play level with AV/AM disabled.

If you are running Symantec you might have a more difficult time. If you are and want to try some additional steps let me know.

Actually, I'm playing on a MacBook Pro. I used boot camp to install windows... Thank god I can get windows super cheap in china! Anyway, I don't have or do anything on that partition except MWO. So there nothing to hamper functionality. I even disabled windows update.
