Is it possible to use multiple displays in Mechwarrior Online to get a wider field of view? So instead of having to freelook sideways, you can see out the side windows/side of cockpit on the side monitors?

You can get a wider field of view by just adding a single line in your user.cfg file in your MechWarrior Online folder, if an advantage is what you were looking for.

C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\user.cfg

If you've never touched it before, it should be completely blank.

cl_fov = 100

Save and close.

Run the game and then tell me what you see.

Well, that's exactly what I meant. I don't mean just a slightly wider FOV on one monitor, I mean run the game with three monitors and get an wide FOV as a result.

Edit: Think freelook left on the left monitor, freelook right on the right monitor; so you can see out the sides of your cockpit by simply looking left and right, rather than using freelook/torso twist.

Why yes, yes you can. Example with 3 monitors running @ 1680*1080 (total 5040*1080 / 48:10):

beware, this game does NOT support multiple graphics cards yet, and unless you turn the settings down AND have a top of the line card (680 or 7970), you'll get a slide show. this game uses a demanding engine to run it, and while it may not make your computer cry like the original crysis did, it'll make it whimper.

Right on the multiple GPU aspect, wrong on the 680/7970 requirement. 7950+670 are perfectly fine to play the game at high across 3 1080p monitors and still achieve 30+FPS.

I'm running a single gtx460 at 1680x1050 right now, with settings maxed, and (barring the odd 5fps match which is clearly a bug, as my card is nowhere near fully loaded when it happens) I never drop below 30fps.

I've got a second 460 I'm not using at the moment, but was planning to pop it in. Has anyone tried using nvidia inspector to force alternate frame rendering? Should be able to get some benefit out of SLI regardless of game support that way.

I was asking, though, because I'm shopping for new monitors and such, wasn't planning on using three displays with the 460's.

Can't say with Nvidia, but AMD has something similar and after 2 hours of matches the 2nd card is cold and the fans are off. [this is on a single monitor, mind you]

With a single 7950 FPS as of last patch was just the wrong side of the border of smoothly playable at 6058 x 1080[dips down to around 19ish], but I haven't tried it with the latest patch, so I don't know if their optimizations had any effect. May try later on and get back to ya on that one.

Mind you, changing performance settings had minimal effect. Once you get into heavy rendering, it drops, regardless of how many FPS you have while staring off in space with nothing else on the screen.

I'm currently running a couple of liquid cooled 690's, oc'd a lil, and at the 5760x1080 resz and everything maxed my fps goes btw 28-38. and here i thought that sli was already implemented..cant wait till that happens!
