So I can earn mech XP off of trial mechs now, but I still can't spend it on the mech until I physically own it? Whats the point?

I was kinda hoping this would be a small way around the silly own 3 variants of the same mech system.

The point would be that you can gather xp for a certain model you already enjoyed playing as a trial mech and later on get the real thing without having to start at 0.
