Brief explanation – Was in closed beta from July and on present game system (AMD Phenom 2 6 Core – 32 Gb ram SSD 256 Gb HD and nvidea 580GTX 2gb) From July to before previous patch my FPS has been between 40-60 (Different patches varied)

The only issues I generally had was the mysterious PAK file corruption issue (Which last two patches seem to have removed) The CTD bug (Some time worse than others) a few times in game bugs such as yellow screen or the map bug

Seems for me at least most of these have since disappeared or at least been reduced to a very rare occurrence so good job on the stability work Devs

Now since the last patch in Mechlab my FPS is stable 60 then sudden drop for no reason to 40 (still not bad but weird) but in game I am getting between 4-11 FPS

I have tried the check PAK files for corruption – full uninstall reinstall – update to latest drivers (cant rem version but released 17/12/2012) and still no improvement.

Now I also have a PC set aside for work (code and SQL) which is an i7- 2600 which has a crappy nvidea 560 graphics card and unfortunately no PCI-E power adapters in PSU.

Removed SSD, 32Gb ram sound card from games machine and inserted into work PC (then spent ages trying to solder up a SATA to PCI-E power adapter and finally gave up)

So now I have i7 with crappy graphics card but rest of hardware same as games PC and run MWO results are
  • Mechlab 40FPS
  • In game lowest 25 FPS
  • Windows 8 decides my activation key no longer valid
  • I spend £70 on a new PSU with PCI-E adapters
After fitting the new PSU and using games card in high settings I was getting 50-60 FPS

Seems that the latest build is really not happy with AMD CPU’s and play better on a non-game setup i7 PC

Wife now off at shops as I finally worked out a Christmas present list (i7 CPU 2011 + motherboard)

AMD Phenom II 955BE OC 3.8 - 4.0Ghz which i have in...
FPS in mechlab 60 (locked), during battle 45-60...but still drops (randomly) due to low GPU usage (40-70% load) to 25-30 FPS. Major improvements for the last patch, cause before it drops to 10-15 FPS for me XD
Guess we need a new drivers/ cap from ATI...cause i have Radeon 7850 in my rig...

Did another small test and put a older radeon card I had laying around (what can I say I am a squirrel and love buying news toys) into the AMD CPU PC and again got around 25-30 FPS.

Seems the issue is more to do with AMD + Nvidea

Amd cpu + nforce m/b chips have some issues (if you are have one on your rig) ...updating m/b bios to latest version might help. For Intel chips - same...try to update bios to your m/b + always install latest chipset drivers. As for Nvidia gpu...you can force drivers to use a Crysis 2 sli/ single gpu profile through Nvidia Inspector or Nvidia Profile manager - if NPM, just simple copy/ past Crysis 2 strings instead of MWO strings and reload ".ini" - done.

Before 7850 i was sitting on 260GTX...faking MWO to use Crysis 2 profile was increased my FPS by 15-30%. But, it was before they moved the game client to newer version...

edit:
same for Radeon...forcing MWO to use Crysis2 CFX profile. RadeonPro app can help with achieving this...
...might help :)

I know that you are an Overclocker so this question may be redundand... but did you check CPU Temp?

Some players have issues with CPu Throtteling due Thermal Problems, as MWO is one of the Games using CPU
Particles effects from Cryengine and thats putts a heavy load on the CPU. Some are literaly Overheating in Brawling. When your CPU usage dropps that could be forced waiting stages.

I have a FX6100 AMD Cpu and the Bulldozer performance Bug got my fully at MWO so i am running at 70% load, but i got an enormous Heatsink installed, around 3 times the size of a standard Heatsink and it keeps CPU cool and no FPS drops in Brawling.

And i say this because MWO is one of the hottest Game for CPU i ever had, there are no other Games putting such a Stress to the CPU, so when you have normaly a Game with 40% load your CPU will make around 50-60 watts... but MWO will putt full stress to it and as it is overclocked 150+ Watts.

And thats the Maximum Rating for most professional Heatsinks (mine has a 155Watt rating for instance)
and most normal are rated for 120-130 Watts.

Nope...not for me. My cpu temp are nice and cool due to water cooling. OC was tested with extensive OCCT burn/ stability benchmarks. Furthermore, my temp during the MWO gameplay not even at highest that i get with some others games and applications...for instance, in Hawken my temp above 5C higher than in MWO - 56C<61-63C ...i'm running Hawken at much heavier graphics load due to implementation of antialiasing, higher display resolution, etc. ...but still.

also...this issue with low GPU usage occurs not only on pure AMD systems. I was chating with some guys (girls maybe...who knows) on this forum which also have FPS drop - one of them running the game on core i7 3770 + ATI 6970 ...another - fx8150 + 6990 and other on fx61something + 2x 7870CFX = same problem - fps droped randomly due to low GPU usage...

my guess, this problem which we are having caused by poor game engine programming (human error) and lack of proper (optimized) profiles in latest nvidia/ radeon drivers...which is (all of that) not surprising - holidays and such - people are drunk n stoned all the time...i know this...cause i do... XD

FPS was fine until the last patch. Now if I point towards another mech I go from 30ish to 12ish and lower. I was originally on "Highest" comfortably, but have dropped to High and still get the low framerate.

AMD FX-8120 8 Core, 8GB RAM, Raedon HD 7800 with 2 GB RAM.

My i5 Laptop with a Nvidia 1GB onboard graphics and 4GB RAM has a low framerate at low system settings but it is more stable than the hihger specced desktop and does not seem to appreciably slow FPS when pointing at a mech.

Definitely something introduced into the latest patch.

I have completely reinstalled the game client as a precaution.

Still not getting close to the FPS I should be with my system either

i7 2600 @ 3.8, 32Gb ram, SSD 256 GB 6GB/s and a 2GB 680GTX and I get 25 FPS when in game fighting at high - change to low and get 40-50 FPS.

This is after a full O/S reinstall all the latest drivers setting all BIOS settings to max performance and lots of tweaking of gaphics settings.
