just came out from a game... where my team got upset that i actually played conquest mode like i'm supposed to...

i usually play assault but forgot to switch from "any" so i dropped in PUG hell aka PUGging in CONQUEST mode...

in the end my team won, but no i'm "bi-curious" for not dying with them...

I <3 PUGs... but the PUGs that i just played with -- i want to ECM farm myself...

The best part is that in global chat my puggy team kept saying he is in "theta"...

Everybody can see i am in theta you dolts...

So apparently for winning the match for them, i'm on some PUGs KOS list... ROFL...

It's a lot like work. Seems like every match I encounter a bunch of ambivilant, ambiguous folks.... two or three jerks, and every once in a loooong while, someone worth meeting.
Those occasional cool folks, good humored, good natured and intending to have fun, keep me coming back more readily than anything.

if they would change assualt to deathmatch you would have a lot less people droping into conquest and treating it as a DM

I think the maps are too small for conquest. It's too easy to roam as a pack and steamroll your enemy, and then pick up the nodes afterwards if there's still a stray enemy cruising around trying to win via cap.

I'd say 1 in 10 games in conquest are actually won in a way that makes them different from assault, for me.

I have actually found that since the patch that increased the speed at which you attain resources, I've had more games end via resources than just the other team dying.

It's still a damn hard game mode to play as a PUG without integrated VOIP though...

Conquest 101

Send 1 light to circle around and cap the other teams second capture point.

Rest meet at theta and fight it out. Winner takes all. If someone on the team runs away proceed to cap all points and wait.

Most of the time you can wipe out a team without even capping a single point which is why a lot of people play conquest. So you don't have to worry about 2 lights sneaking to the one point and ending the game before you can actually fight it out.

Many a pug conquest games have I won as the last mech on my team by capping points. Many times have I rushed the enemy base cap point and capped it, causing enemy forces to split. When driving a light, it is my favorite thing to do. Amazingly, the netcode tweaks won't really hinder this tactic as I'm rarely in combat doing it, and when I do get in combat I can simply hide behind cover and let ECM do the rest for me, making it back to our main force to support them while (usually more than 1) mech(s) that went to find me are recapping their base. Speed is key to these tactics, and it's wonderful to be able to use that advantage for more than just avoiding shots!
