This coming from and in representation of a person who's noticed that this game has a lot of items that make little to no sense when first seen. I would like to see the devs put in an advanced tutorial for newcomers to be able to at the bare minimum understand what an AC-10 is( still not entirely sure as to what that thing does). What I'm asking for is outside the basic tutorials of how to move look around and shoot. I would like a well layed out explanation of how this game works so the new guys are a more than simple cannon fodder their first matches and more than good guessers when it comes to mech layout the next 50.

I also highly suggest, if you're looking for general fluff and explanations of what things are, going over and reading up on Sarna.net, the offical BattleTech wiki. (MechWarrior is the name used in several games in the general BattleTech universe.) For example, the articles on autocannon in general and the AC/10 in specific will probably provide more information than you really wanted to know about them.

I believe it was stated that they do plan on having some tutorials. Yes, an individual could go to Sarna or read over the Forums, however, an in depth tutorial or New players guide would be great.
People want to shoot big Robots, not read silly posts by silly moderators on how the game is played
Having an in game tutorial would be great!
Cheers.

The Devs are pretty busy! I would bet they'd get some eager beavers from the mods/closed beta testers to work on one as the closed beta progresses. Still months from open beta/launch, lots of time for rookie-friendly guides to be written up.

Good info in that links, came very handy, but you MUST assume that there will be people that will not read the forums. In a Free to Play model, it's important to cater to all players, and a good tutorial/offline practice w/bots would come in very handy.
I don't live in the States but always loved MW and Battletech, mainly through old books and the MW games; while I love the franchise, it's not as commonly known as, say, Star Wars, so a lot of people will run scared after their first match (and guaranteed death).
Love what you are doing, keep up the good work.

While reading up on stuff is enough for mature players, having an ingame bootcamp that goes into movement, weapon use, basics of tactics and similar topics would be great. It might help prevent communication channels from being flooded with "How do you do X?" style questions like in WoT and other games.

Reading up on stuff is nice, but even that dev blog post is a bit of a read. I literally just went through my first two fights and I'm pretty sure the only reason I was the last one of my team standing is because I couldn't stop so I just ran circles around the guy shooting at me.
I'd really like to at least see tooltips or something, just for your basic information, like the basic movement keys and which buttons is fire, something like that.

Personally I have played MW throughout the years so it comes more natural playing MWO. Unfortunately I have tried to get customers from my gaming store to pick this game up. Only 1 person has continued to play it because he is a close personal friend. The rest have installed, played for about 3 drops then literally quit. Sadly because they had no clue what they were doing and played the game later on when they were home after downloading it (not here at the store). I would later instruct them but the initial disappointment had settled in.
With that being said even a simple movement, weapons group, targeting, basics etc tutorial would greatly increase the amount of people that will try MWO and actually continue to play it. I know there is so much to do still in this game but increase your player base beyond those of the existing fans, and you will only create more revenue in turn to help the game progress faster.
kthxbye

Agreed, an In-Game Tutorial would be great for the newbies. I too have played this since MW2. BTW When is the Timberwolf/MadCat going to make an appearance? In anycase, besides the Tutorial, maybe even a map that a friend and I could join JUST the 2 of us so we could practice. Or he could learn to play. He liked the game, the idea, and the overall graphics and mechanics... but hes never played. He got toasted about 10 times and quit. he would come baqck if he had a way to learn to play first. I'm sure you have something in mind on this subject. I would like to see something where I could just go in alone or with a friend and do a one on one or even some AI or AI Targets. To try that new GR or Advanced Zoom Mode

I want to see a tutorial mission(s) that explains to users how to play and some of the basic and advanced concepts.

I thoroughly agree, we need something to 1. teach new players, 2. practice, and 3. test loadouts in a safe environment

Agreed. Tutorials would be great. It feels like the Russian front.
"Here's your rifle/giant robot! CHARGE!"
I'd like to stomp around and shoot at trees for a bit. I really hate letting a team down, and even though I watches DOZENS of Mechwarrior vids, it's a very different thing having an idea how to do stuff, and coordinating the fingers and processing information from the screen while giant robots are shooting you.
Include some obstacle courses, popup targets, and perhaps tutorial challenges, like go from A to B. Then go from A to B and shoot a few things on the way. Go from A to B in under 2 minutes. Go from A to B in under 2 minutes, having shot 10 things, etc.
