Congrats PGI.
You have broken me. As they say "if you can't beat them, join em".
I will now only pilot ECM mechs.
Keep up your brilliant work. We can see the progress in leaps and bounds.
Oh wait....

I really dont have as much an issue with this as some players are having. I am guessing most of you were either Streak-Cat pilots or streak scouts.

I really don't understand the backlash either. I drive non-ECM Mechs all the time and I don't have trouble. ECM Mechs are so rare in pug matches anyway.

Well I have played a few games now with my new Raven 3L.
It is not even fully upgraded. I did switch out the srm and narc for 2 SSRMs. It is like God mode.
It can die, but not for a very, very long time unless you make a mistake with it like shut down whilst your ECM is in counter mode. Once I put double heat sinks and the top engine on this sucker it will be even harder to kill.
And I dont even feel bad for the victims whoever they are. I was on the receiving end of this for a long time.
I can vouch that the Raven and ECM takes no skill what so ever to play.
See you on the battle field with my Raven - Working as Intended.

As someone who has to play with 280ms ping, the best way to kill a low ping light mech was to lure it to a streak cat. (That was the real scissors to the paper.)
That's not really an option anymore. (As they jump around so much it's difficult to even get a TAG on them.)
Working as intended indeed.... if you're not in the states we don't want to know about you.

And you'd be wrong. The virtually elimination of one of the most common weapons in battletech, the LRM, reduction of the mid and long range game, forfeiture of ability to conduct basic team play with focus fire and coordinated movement, and sharp reduction of number of viable chassis/configs did it for me.

ecm. mikey likes it.
lotta late refunds in house, plus group lead heading off till april with work, and people leaving for ps2, minecraft, or plain other titles. game longevity confidence broke about 100 people down to a handful. most of those that remain simply pug or float.
but hey ecm. it's cool. that raven 3l i picked up.
doin work.
sold that stalker. lotta builds. even the really evil 6largelas failed to consistently hit the numbers the old cda-3m or new rvn-3l were. it was too vulnerable to lights AND mediums flankin'.
still haven't sold the d-dc or rs. keep trying to get the rs out and layeth down some smack. seems inevitable when i do we get a team that runs off with 2 ecm lights or less and 2+non ecm lights that rush off to die early, leaving the pack for us. did have one match i managed to level a few before being dragged down. definitely worse for assault v assault fights but better for assault v lights/meds.
but back to that 3l..
nice being able to leverage a pair of mediums and 200 streaks from two launchers with a tag and score those 500-1000damage figures.
heck one match recently i pulled two enemies and the first place in match(which happened to be a teamate with 5 kills >.> ****** was my shadow, until he ran for a kill shot directly into my beams and died) worth of kills and lived.
enemy was ecm heavy but mostly d-dc's and lrm boats. boiled down to their raven 3l to mine, and their non ecm raven to our competent jenner pilot, with a shout out to good atlas rs laserin from the only other survivor.
problem is it's all pretty binary. you ensure the team has good odds by sitting low ping with an assault mech(ie a raven or cicada) and play a frenetic dance and shoot game that makes hawken look slow. you pull a big boy out and either get eaten by light swarms or roll the enemy. you drop in a non ecm unit and experience the shock and awe of teams full of no ams no ecm, MAYBE a tag, and lots of missiles.
all in all it feels like you play the same lowest common denominator angle to cover the widest base possible, or you get screwed.
the number of times it's felt, seemed, appeared or what have you- to come down to team skill over loadout chance is exceedingly small.
i do not find it a good sign when i'm towards the top of the scoreboards consistently.
i do not find it pleasant either. noone should be carrying teams that hard, and frankly i don't hold the opinion that i'm a bad a** hotshot top gun. i see myself as middling towards good. the ability to take tactically *delta sierra*1 maneuvers and win with them more than 50/50 simply by switching to loading ecm over more heatsinks is abysmal.ecm+ams plus the above just makes it even more fugly for any situation i'm not running headlong into my mech x 2+.
