So I Built An Atlas 7K Like...

So far the result is 50/50. The horrible tragic deaths are usually caused by being left alone by teammates and crushed under LRM - in which case one couldn't be saved even with a DDC. Other times, it is a bliss to have 24DHS alongside the two ERPPCs. Gotta admit, with the still unholy heavy armor of an Atlas, it's fun to charge lone LRMboats head-on.
If you have an AS7-K and hate it like everyone else, give this build a shot before you sell it. It may surprise you.

This is my AS7-K build. Its major problem is the heat build up if you just keep all guns blazing over an extended period of time. But really, if your aim is good, the firepower should be enough to put down mechs quickly.
Of course, with only MPLs in the arms, you have very little firepower against things that aren't directly in front of you. So without support, you're pretty screwed against a good light mech. But it's a fun build against heavies and other assaults. Maybe even a medium mech who isn't paying attention.
EDIT: With double heat sinks and a STD 325 engine, you can get the cooling efficiency up to 43% and Max sustained DPS to 6.05, which is better, I suppose. At the cost of having ammo in your legs, which can be risky.

Assault mechs with their insane armor don't really have leg ammo issues, unless you try to shave off some.

Exactly. I love my twin-PPC K2 so much I want a bigger one. Speaking of investing too much on energy weapons, so what? It's not like you're gonna get a lot from the single ballistic hardpoint and the missile one.

that's not a good trade for your team.

Better equipped...for what? There's nothing better than a pair of ERPPC constantly firing for long-range combat, since we can all agree that it takes ages to squeeze all those LRM from the few tiny tubes an Atlas has.
For brawling? Why would I bring a sniper to brawling?
