From the response in the two threads regarding the Hero Awesome, I am not sure why these prices come as a surprise to anyone.

Post got buried. And a LOT of people seem to have no idea about the business practices of F2P games.

I'm not surprised, I'm just disappointed.

Didnt see Hero Spider listed in the schedule. I know im not up on my lore, but i wonder if they will be making one?

Also, 2014 for the hero Hunch = bummer.

I swapped the Flea for the Spider and then removed the Jenner for the Flea. This was an oversight on my part.

PGI use the 250MC to the dollar or the highest package of MC amount

Just wondering, where did this release schedule come from?
Is it just speculative? If so, what is the reasoning behind the predictions?

It's speculation, but has held true so far.

Glad to see this topic still in the light of day. I am still sad seeing how much the heavy and assault mechs costing. But heck they run a good enough MC sale for Valentines day and I may bite.

I came up with it.

It is purely speculation, but it is well reasoned speculation.

PGI likes to keep things cyclical and on a rotation. They also are trying to keep with specific deadlines now. Currently PGI has announced that they are no longer doing weekly updates, but bi-weekly ones. As a result there is in most cases only going to be two updates a month. To understand how this effects us, we need to look at their Content Roadmap.

We just recently got the Pretty Baby, February 5th, and we are getting the Trebuchet on the 19th. As a result the following week of February is coincidentally the last week of February. This means there will be no more updates in February after the 19th, and the first update will be on March 5th. Now if we look at the Content Roadmap as I mentioned before (http://mwomercs.com/...uary-24th-2013/) you will see that on March 5th we will get a Hero Mech.

Now because there is no content being added to the game for two weeks out of every month, PGI must fill in the blanks with announcements. Be this a grab deal on the weekend (50% off Trial Mechs, Double XP Weekends, etc.) or a Mech Announcement in the form of a Hero Mech or Concept Art. So if I am going to take their Content Roadmap as the truth, it makes no sense and completely disrupts their content flow if they release a Hero Mech the same week as they release a real Mech with their new update schedule. This leaves them with a barren month of no new content being added to the game, so PGI is unlikely to do this.

From there all I had to do was flip-flop every two weeks to determine their release schedule.

As for what Mechs they are going to release, this ties back in with PGI's cyclical rotation system. They do one for the real Mechs and although the Hero Dragons have disrupted this, in all likelihood that was merely an outlier. I fullY expect that they are going to fall into a Medium-Heavy-Light-Assault rotation from here on out and have laid out the schedule accordingly. PGI also considers the Founders Mechs to be "Hero" Mechs, so we will not see them for quite a long time which is why they are so far down the line.

It's ridiculous, but they cant really backtrack prices because of all the people that already paid for it.

I guess they could hold frequent sales. A 40% Hero mech sale, combined with MC bought at 20% off suddenly isn't such a horrific deal.

Had you considered that they may skip heavy on one of the cycles to adjust for doubling down on heavies earlier?

It may be worth considering that the Hero Jaegermech could get skipped on this next cycle, since it is two weeks after it is released. But, then again, how long was it after the 'phract was release that the Muromets was released?

Other than that, I see no reason why you'd be wrong.

It is possible that they'll do this, but I believe that PGI knows people were pretty annoyed with them releasing the Spider and then the Death's Knell. And as you pointed out, it was a mere two weeks after the Cataphract was added to the game that the Ilya was put in (November 20th and then December 4th).

So we could certainly see a hero Trebuchet released as the next hero mech, which I would much prefer to a hero cicada. I think its unlikely that pgi will push to roll out hero mechs that have an ecm capable variant in the chassis.

I agree with earlier poster than a hero 4SP with jumpjets and XL 250 would be fantastic. 2x lrm10 with artemis, tag, 4 mlas and I'll be good to go.

This is beta. Hopefully when the rest of the game is ready to go, CW and economy will be back in.

World of Tanks has been wildly successful selling premium tanks because it costs lots of money to run the highest tier tanks and compete in clan wars. Premium tanks offer 100% credit generation over standard tanks.

This is the purpose I see PGI aiming at with hero mechs. Furthermore, with money being based around damage done/kills/assists so heavily it should come as no surprise that heavier mechs (who generally put up the highest damage numbers) are the most expensive to purchase.

As the game currently stands, a $50 dollar price tag for a custom paint job, side grade or possible down grade in mech effectiveness and 30% cbill bonus seem completely out of line.

However, when there is a risk of losing CBills or need to purchase specialized equipment or repair mechs, the $50 becomes an investment for the life of the game. Depending on how successful MWO is and how long it sticks around will be important in evaluating the price points on hero mechs / camo colors.

Personally, I think Hero mechs should return 50-100% credit bonus.

This should be interesting to see how close the order of 'mechs released is to what you predicted.

Indeed.

To be honest, I hope I am wrong quite a number of times on this list.
