For a very long time, there have been numerous threads about how pug stomping by premades takes place and how sync dropping hurts the game.

Despite the fact that pug stomping is not as common as those threads might suggest, it indeed exists.

An other big topic was the general awfulness of the group play abilities of the game for the organized groups. And some about imposing of restrictions like drop weight etc etc etc.

Here are 2 simple solutions how to solve those problems once and for all:

1. Leave any kind of group out of the PUG queue! (and continue working on MM towards phase 3 for the pug queue and CW)

2. Give the community a lobby system without any group size restrictions, drop restrictions... just a SIMPLE lobby system like back in the golden old days of the msn gaming zone or any similar system of chat and game rooms to create and join.

Please let the community govern the organized multiplayer experience (apart from CW)!

And my personal wishes:

1. leave this lobby system in place next to CW, when ( and if ) it comes out.

2. Please please don't counter this yet again with fairy tales of CW, like you did with other suggestions of this kind for months.
We know nothing about CW except info that is well outdated - CW might even never make it to release!

My POV why a lobby system is mandatory and much more important than many other things like yet an other new mech for example:

If the social aspect of playing this game in multiplayer is not taken more into account a.s.a.p.,
many of the already formed up clans and groups might as well suffer big drops in player numbers because this game has absolutely no reason to be played beyond a certain point.

Please provide the community the one single tool to organize, to socialize and to give this game some long time motivation!

3. for my fellow mechwarriors: Please do not post here if you simply disagree with my first statements about pugstomping. This is not a discussion about if pugstomping actually happens, if the pugs just have to lean the game or if ECM is the reason for everything bad happening to the game.

This is just a suggestion to strictly split PUG from group games and to implement a simple multiplayer lobby system. Thank you!

The only problem with having lobbies.......is some people will game the system.

As in, create fake accounts and fight "themselves" etc etc, or just friends on fake accounts that lose on purpose etc etc........unless of course there was no rewards. (you would still get stat humpers tho that do it just to get to some stupidly high k/d etc etc, or to the top of any future leaderboards.)

Until CW is in and houses are seperated etc I don't see lobbies coming in.

The rest of your ideas seem ok. (separating groups from pubbers completely etc, however with ELO that may not be needed at all......we will see.)

I don't quite follow your logic. You would avoid implementing a perfectly good game feature because of the possibility that it might get abused?

How about policing it?

If any game feature that could possibly be abused was not introduced we wouldn't have a game at all!

And? so there are some guys with insanely high stats ..if that person wants to ********** on his stats..so be it.
And for money farming with 2 accounts... that would be some looong boring evenings to do that....

For anything else... tournaments and leagues are governed.

Oh im not saying I personally would care about the people that did that, but im sure PGI would not like people "skipping" playing the game to get everything faster etc or spending time / hard work on setting up a leaderboard, only to have it mean absolutely nothing. (even tho for most it will mean nothing anyway)

The basic premise of a lobby system is great for tournys and leagues, but those won't be the only people using it.....

Again, I don't care if someone tries to inflate their stats or speeds up the grind by farming alt / fake accounts , but it wasn't me I was worried about. :P

TDLR; I want a lobby system exactly for leagues and tournys, I just hope PGI can find a way to do it without spending tons of money trying to police the people who will game it it basically.

Aye, I hope they find a way too, to limit such farming but thats a general problem anyways.

What i fear more is that this, along with so many other suggestions, will be buried under forum rubble because flaming and arguing is so much more..... entertaining than just approving or calmly and polite discussing suggestions.

Yes I TOTALLY AGREE with you Grayson.

Who cares about the points? Who cares about the stats? Who cares about the KDR.... This is not the "Big Brother TV SHOW" or "X-FACTOR" where your stats means something... This is Mechwarrior and only your career in the game means something.

Just block any fake test to rise money, but give the tools to the people to self manage their own community because right now it's just like a bunch of sheeps riding the camp without any sense.

You own a long life game? Allow the community to self manage becuase instead of having 1 dev team trying to solve the problem of 100.000 users, you will have 100.000 users resolving their problems by their own... and maybe also enjoying more!

And why is that? I mean what have lobbies to do with CW? Nothing at all!

CW will have fancy things like ELO based matchmaking and all that stuff and Iam optimistic that it will be awesome!

But apart from that, it has been the community based things that got MW live through the ages.
The EBTL, BuE, MBO.... and so many more that gave this game a purpose and every player a home for either ladder and/or planetary playing.

Something for the stock lovers and all the others.... and long time motivation for years!

Currently it is like risk evolution, a board game where one round affects the next one. At least the first 14 games, after that, your new map effect stickers and stuff are all finished and the map is finished. you can still play it but nothing new happens and therefore.... it catches dust.

So here, once your fav mechs are leveled up, there is not longer reason to play.
And an occasional new mech or map don't fix this problem.
And since CW is a long way down the road still... lobbies would do a LOT for the game.

omg a main chat lobby to crap talk and find players for 8 man would rock.
Like MSN zone style though when we had mw3

Yeah zone style would be my favorite too. but I would go with a game room list like in mw4 also, as long as they have chat inside this rooms then ^^ and of course a way to select which player will be in which team BEFORE pressing launch ;-)

I completely agree with both of your suggestions grayson marik.

For the lobby, we should have the possibility to block any player annoying us, this would then let the kiddies who shout in the chatroom yell at empty walls. Adding the possibility to choose different chat room options, for expample by only showing your friends, clan or factions messages etc. (maybe even a newbie lobby where you can learn the basics)

A lobby would considerably reduce the negativity we actually see on the forums and reduce the need for people to ask how the game works during the round.

Please PGI add a lobby and you wil prevent your comunitiy (which currently only exist in the forums) from dying and help it to florish and prosper for many years.

So for all those who might not be familiar with the lobby thingy, here an old screenshot from the msn gaming zone:
Posted ImageOn the right you can see the players who are inside the lobby along with some short info about their connection quallity. In the middle you have the lobby chat, anyone can chat in.
On top you have the game rooms. If you right click an active game room, you can see some info about the player, who are in the room and some free headline text, the creator of the room has chosen. For a MWO game there could be something in like:

- " FFA Stock, 2light/2med/2hvy/2ass | max 1 ecm per team"
- "DC vs FWL Clanwar"
- "1v1 Ladder games for Open players ladder league"

Or in a private ( pw protected room):

- "Clan Snow Raven trial of position 1v4"

Now every player who would like to participate in that match, can join the room. Inside the room, the teams are chosen, mechs are selected and once all players have clicked rdy, the room creator can launch the match. the 2 ( or 3 or 4 teams maybe?!? would that be awesome? ;) ) are then matched against each other. once the match is over, all players from that match find themseves in the gameroom again for some after drop chat or for the next match :-) .

Such a thing inside MWO would be absolutely epic!

Of course this NEXT to the pug queue not replacing it!

Absolutely up for the lobby system where players can manage theyre own games. Prefers drop limits? Make a game room only for people willing to follow the 'house rule/drop limit'. Want a mech-class limit? Manage that yourself. Simple enough. Many games do this, Warcraft 3 Battlenet and it's custom games, Gunbound etc.
